The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of a linguistic approach to intercultural communication from a pragmatic point of view, and on its basis to seek a linguistic method for analysis of intercultural communication suitable for the Korean and German cultures. To this end, this paper first examines the representative models for communication analysis developed by German linguists, ‘Kulturemansatz’ and ‘Kontrastive Pragmatik’, and then reviews the methods for discourse in terms of ‘Functional Pragmatik’ which is modified to present the examples of application of Korean-German intercultural communication analysis and the applicable standards for its analysis. This led to the following conclusions. 1) ‘Kulturemansatz’ and ‘Kontrastive Pragmatik’, that is, the cultural element theory and comparative pragmatics theory of Germany did not deviate much from the framework of the dialogue act theory, which focused on the speaker's utterance intention without considering the context of dialogue by classical American scholars. Therefore it is not suitable to be applied to the analysis of intercultural communication. 2) The discourse analysis method of functional pragmatics proposed by Ehlich & Rehbein (1979) has limitations in analyzing the factors of non-verbal speech acts. In order to overcome these limitations, it is necessary to carefully set the criteria for analysis of non-linguistic factors in addition to language. 3) It is suggested that Müller-Jacquier's (1999) nine criteria for discourse analysis and Kim’s (2005) three criteria for analysis can be applied to the situations of Korean-German intercultural communication by supplementing and expanding the shortcomings of functional pragmatic theory.

본 연구의 목적은 화용론적인 관점에서 문화간 의사소통의 언어학적인 접근법의 특 징을 분석해 보고, 이를 토대로 한국과 독일 문화권에 적합한 문화간 의사소통의 언어 학적인 분석방법을 모색해 보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 먼저 독일의 언어학자 에 의해 개발된 대표적인 의사소통 분석의 모델인 문화소이론(Kulturemansatz)과 비 교화용론(Kontrastive Pragmatik)을 살펴보고, 다음으로 기능화용론(Funktionale Pragmatik)적인 측면에서 담화분석 방법론을 검토하고, 기능화용론을 변형하여 한독 문화간 의사소통 분석의 적용사례 및 적용 가능한 분석의 기준을 제시한다. 이를 통해 다음의 결론을 내리게 되었다. 1) 독일의 문화소이론과 비교화용론은 고전적인 미국학 자에 의한 대화의 맥락을 고려하지 않고 화자의 발화의도에 중점을 둔 화행이론의 틀 에서 크게 벗어나지 못하였기 때문에 언어학적인 분석방법론으로 문화간 의사소통 분 석에 적용하는데 적절하지 못하다. 2) Ehlich& Rehbein(1979)에 의해 제안된 기능화 용론의 담화분석 방법은 비언어적인 화행의 요인을 분석하는데 제약을 가지고 있다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해서는 언어 외에도 비언어적 요소들의 분석의 기준을 세심 하게 설정해야 할 필요가 있다. 3) 기능화용론의 단점을 보완하고 확장시켜, 한독 문화 간 의사소통의 상황에 적용할 수 있는 분석의 기준으로 Müller-Jacquier(1999)의 담화 분석의 9개의 기준과 Kim(2005)의 3개의 기준을 제안한다.
