The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of their school-related adjustments and mental health on the experience of school violence in adolescents. For these purpose, the magnitude of school violence, school-related adjustments, and mental health were measured for 426 adolescents(201 boys, 225 girls). Three kinds of measurement were used for this study: 1) the school violence scale, 2) the school-related adjustments scale, 3) the mental health scale. As a method of statistical analysis, the SPSS(Win 10.0 ver.) program was used in this study. The multiple-regression analysis was used in order to find out the relationships among variables. The results of this study were as follows: First, there was a significant negative correlation between the perceptional level of school violence and the school-related adjustments of adolescents. Second, there was a significant negative correlation between the perceptional level of school violence and the mental health of adolescents. Third, in the relationship between the perceptional level of school violence, the school-related adjustments, and the mental health of adolescents, the perceptional level of school violence had a negative effect on the school-related adjustments and the mental health of adolescents.

본 연구는 최근 학교폭력의 위험성이 사회적으로 문제화되고 있는 시점에서 청소년의 학교폭력 경험이 청소년의 학교생활 적응과 정신건강에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 살펴봄으로써, 학교폭력의 위험성을 강조하고 학교폭력에 대처할 수 있는 상담적 개입의 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 연구대상은 강원도 W시, 충청남도 N시, 전라남도 M시에 소재한 인문계 고등학교 남녀 학생 426명을 대상으로 하였으며, 측정도구로는 송남두(2000)가 개발․제작한 ‘학교폭력수준 척도’, 유윤희(1995)가 제작한 ‘학교적응 척도’와 이창복(2000)이 제작한 ‘정신건강 척도’를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과 첫째, 청소년의 학교폭력 경험과 학교적응 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 상관이 있었으며, 학교폭력의 하위영역과 학교적응의 상관 정도는 경험한 신체폭력, 경험한 공격폭력, 목격한 공격폭력, 목격한 신체폭력 순으로 부적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 청소년의 학교폭력 경험과 정신건강 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 상관이 있었으며, 하위영역과의 상관정도는 경조증, 강박증, 우울증, 내향성, 히스테리 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년의 학교폭력 경험이 청소년의 학교적응과 정신건강에 미치는 영향력을 알아보기 위해 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 학교폭력 경험이 학교적응과 정신건강에 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 학교폭력을 경험한 청소년들의 학교적응을 돕고 바람직한 정신건강을 형성할 수 있는 교육프로그램의 개발과 상담적 개입의 필요성을 제언하고 있다.주제어: 청소년, 학교폭력, 학교적응, 정신건강
