This study explores the factors influencing regional economic development and population growth as economic factors for sustainable development in localities. In addition to analyzing the growth-oriented factors, this study constructs social and environmental variables for sustainability using both objective and intersubjective indicators. Regression analysis of 226 local governments nationwide shows that objective indicators such as industrial and employment factors, as well as healthcare factors, have a positive effect on economic development and population growth. On the other hand, environmental variables measured by intersubjective indicators were found to have a negative impact on economic development but a positive impact on population growth. Based on these research findings, it is necessary to use both objective and intersubjective indicators, reflecting the opinions of residents, and to develop tailored policies that consider the unique economic and environmental characteristics of each locality.

본 연구는 지방의 지속가능한 발전을 위한 경제적 요인으로서 지역경제발전과 인구성장의 영향요인을 탐색 하였다. 기존의 성장 중심의 영향요인 분석과 더불어 지속가능성을 위한 사회·환경적 변수를 객관적 지표와 간주관 적 지표를 함께 사용하여 구성하였다. 회귀분석을 통해 전국 226개 기초지방자치단체를 분석한 결과, 객관 지표로 측정된 산업·일자리 요인과 보건복지 요인이 경제발전과 인구성장에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한 편 간주관 지표로 측정된 환경 변수는 경제발전에는 부정적, 인구성장에는 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 객관적 지표와 더불어 주민들의 의견이 반영된 간주관적 지표가 함께 사용되어야 하 며, 지방의 경제, 환경적 특성을 고려한 차별적인 정책적 대응이 필요하다는 정책적 시사점을 찾을 수 있었다.
