In this study, the status of the site type of Insa-dong ruins in the early Joseon Dynasty was confirmed. In addition to the fact that the largest number of Hangul type types excavated were Hangul metal types used in the 15th century, 89 Hangul meshes were found to be the earliest modern type to be used in the text of unwritten texts in the early Joseon Dynasty. In addition, through the historical evidence of the excavated Korean metal type, the evidence for the use of actual type and the estimation of the production time was provided. The printed version that became the basis is Mahavaipulya purnabudha Sutra (大方光圓覺修多羅要義經 The Complete Enlightenment Sutra), an Buddhist Sutra of Amitagyeong (佛說阿彌陀經 Amitabha Sutra), the old text of Śūrangama-sūtra (大佛頂 如來密因修證了義諸菩薩萬行首楞嚴經), Based on such a primary consideration, more detailed verification such as measurement of coincidence rate and component analysis using scientific devices is essential. If the analysis is carried out, it will help solve some problems to be solved or confirm the technical basis related to the background of the type being transmitted.

이 연구에서는 조선 전기 한글 금속활자에서 인사동 유적출토 활자가 차지하는 위상을 확인해 보았다. 출토된 한글 활자 유형 중에 수량이 가장 많은 한글 소자Ⅱ가 15세기에 쓰인 동국정운식 표기의 한글 금속활자라는 사실 외에도, 89점에 달하는 한글 중자의 형태는 조선 전기에 언해본의 본문에 보편적으로 쓰이는 활자의 형태로서 현전하는 것 중에 가장 이른 시기의 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 출토 한글 금속활자의 고증을 통해서 실제 활자가 사용된 사례와 더불어 제작 시기 추정을 뒷바침 할 수 있는 근거를 마련하였다. 근거가 된 인쇄본은 『불설아미타경(佛說阿彌陀經)』 언해본, 『대방광원각수다라요의경(大方光圓覺 修多羅要義經)』 구결본, 『대불정여래밀인수증료의제보살만행수능엄경(大佛頂如來密因修證了義諸菩薩萬行首楞嚴經)』 언해본 등이다. 이들 인본에서 활자의 실물과 가장 가까운 글자를 확인하고 표시하였다. 이와 같은 1차 고찰을 바탕으로 과학기기를 사용한 일치율 측정, 성분분석 등 보다 치밀한 검증이 반드시 필요하다. 분석이 진행된다면 활자가 전해지게 된 배경과 관련하여 풀어야 할 몇 가지 문제를 해결하거나 기술적 바탕을 확인하 는데 도움이 될 것으로 보인다.
