Recently, along with interest in public design, interest in strengthening regional identity through public design is also increasing. In this study, a study was conducted by specifying Inje-gun, Gangwon-do, which has various natural and cultural heritages among various regions. Inje-gun, Gangwon-do, is an area where rest-type tourist attractions and extreme leisure sports are developing with a high possibility of development through strengthening local identity. In particular, among the various fields of public design, it is necessary to link and strengthen local identity through public sculptures, and this study analyzed the basic identity of Inje-gun and analyzed public sculptures and semiotics in public designs. As a result of the analysis, as shown in Inje-gun's "Skyfall Inje" brand, it advocates clean nature, and public sculptures of various attractions are classified into sculpture shape, guide plate shape, sign stone shape, and gate shape. In terms of design, it was found that creativity, consistency, harmony with the surrounding environment, meaning and linkage were needed, and in terms of semiotics, the meaning of public sculptures was slightly different, and the relevance of local identity and place was considered.

최근 공공디자인에 대한 관심과 함께, 공공디자인을 통한 지역 정체 성 강화에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있다. 본 연 구에서는 여러 지역 가운데, 다양한 자연문화유산을 보유하고 있는 강원도 인제군을 특정하여 연구를 진행하였다. 강원도 인제군은 천혜의 자연을 간직한 휴식형 관광지, 익스트림 레 포츠 등이 발달하고 있는 지역으로써, 지역정 체성 강화를 통해 발전 가능성이 높은 지역이다. 특히 공공디자인의 여러 분야 가운데에서도 공공조형물을 통한 지역정체성 연계 및 강화가 필요하며, 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 인제군의 기초적인 정체성을 분석하고, 이를 기반 으로 공공디자인으로써의 공공조형물, 기호학적 측면의 공공조형물을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 인제군의 ‘하늘내린 인제’라는 브랜드에서 나타나듯이 청정 자연을 표방하고 있으며, 여러 명소들의 공공조형물은 조형물 형태, 안내판 형태, 표지석 형태, 게이트 형태 등으로 구분된다. 디자인 측면에서는 창의성, 일관성, 주변환경과의 조화, 의미와 연계 등의 보완이 필요한 것으로 나타났고, 기호학적 측면에서는 공공조형물의 유형별 의미가 조금씩 다르게 보여졌으며, 지역 정체성 및 장소의 의미에 대한 연관성 고려가 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
