The purpose of this study is to find out the aspects of the cluster type by sub-factors of grit and to check the difference in academic engagement by grit cluster type. Among the longitudinal data of the KCYPS, the third-grade middle school panel(2020) was used, and data of a total of 2,324(1,247 male students: 54%, 1,077 female students: 46%) were analyzed. The results of the cluster analysis are as follows. First, it was formed in four cluster forms by level, which are sub-variables of grit. Among the cluster types, the 'high grit' group was the highest percentage of Korean middle school students in both ‘consistency of interest’ and ‘perseverance of effort’. Second, the 'high grit' cluster was higher than other clusters in all variables of academic engagement. In the situation of dedication and absorption, the ‘perseverance of effort’ was higher than ‘consistency of interest’. It can be understood in that efforts have been made to achieve one's goal in an academic situation. As a variable of positive psychology, it was discussed from the perspective of the curriculum that it shows that grit has a positive effect on academic participation.

본 연구의 목적은 그릿의 하위요인별 군집유형의 양상을 알아보고, 그릿 군집유형별 학업참여의 차이를 확인 하는 것이다. 한국아동·청소년패널조사(KCYPS) 종단 데이터 중에서 중학교 3학년 패널(2020년)을 활용하였고, 총 2,324명(남학생 1,247명: 54%, 여학생 1,077명: 46%)의 자료를 분석하였다. 군집분석의 결과는 아래와 같다. 첫째로, 그릿의 하위변인 수준별 네 가지 군집 형태로 형성되었다. 군집 유형 중에서 국내 중학생들은 흥미유지와 노력지속 모두 ‘높은 그릿’ 집단이 가장 높은 비율이었다. 둘째로, 모든 학업참여 변인에서 ‘높은 그릿’ 군집이 다른 군집들보 다 높았다. 헌신과 몰두 상황에서는 노력지속이 흥미유지보다 높았다. 학업상황에서 자신의 목표를 달성하기 위하여 노력지속이 이루어진 상태라는 점에서 이해할 수 있다. 긍정심리학의 변인으로서 그릿이 학업참여에 긍정적으로 작용 하고 있기 때문에 학교 교육과정 관점에서 논의하였다.
