Fernie and colleagues(2009) developed the Metacognitive Beliefs about Procrastination (MBPQ) based on Metacognitive Therapy. The MBPQ is a self-report measure to assess one's positive and negative metacognitive beliefs about procrastination. The aim of this study was to validate the Korean version of MBPQ (K-MBPQ) and to investigate its psychological properties. A total of 209 college students participated in the survey. As a result of the study, K-MBPQ has a two-factor structure which was consistent with the original version. Also the data showed that K-MBPQ has a good internal consistency, convergent and divergent validity. The negative metacognitive beliefs about procrastination significantly predicted depression and anxiety, while the frequency of dysfunctional procrastination did not. The results of the current study indicate that the K-MBPQ is a reliable and valid measurement scale, which can be widely used in Korea as a useful tool for conducting clinical assessment and providing aid in treatment.

본 연구는 메타인지치료의 맥락에서 개발된 Fernie 등(2009)이 개발한 지연행동 메타인지신념 척도(Metacognitive beliefs about Procrastination, MBPQ)를 소개하고 타당화하기 위해 수행되었다. 서울 소재의 4년제 대학교에서 대학생 209명을 대상으로 설문연구를 실시하였다. 척도의 요 인구조를 알아보기 위해 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였고, K-MBPQ의 심리측정적 속성을 알아 보기 위해 내적 합치도 분석, 상관분석, 위계적 회귀분석 및 잠재프로파일 분석을 실시하였 다. 또한 K-MBPQ와 우울 및 불안과의 관계를 알아보기 위해 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연 구 결과, K-MBPQ는 원척도와 동일한 2요인구조가 지지되었으며 적절한 모형 적합도를 나타 내었다. 또한 K-MBPQ는 비교적 안정적인 내적 합치도 계수를 보였고 적절한 수렴 및 변별 타당도를 갖춘 것으로 나타났다. 지연행동 수준에 따라 기능적 지연행동 집단, 비특징적 지연 행동 집단, 역기능적 지연행동 집단으로 구분되었으며, 지연행동에 대한 부정적인 신념을 가 진 사람일수록 역기능적 지연행동 집단에 속할 가능성이 높았다. K-MBPQ와 정신건강 간의 관계를 알아본 결과, 역기능적 지연행동의 빈도보다 지연행동에 대한 부정적인 신념 수준이 우울 및 불안을 더 잘 설명하였다. 이에 K-MBPQ가 한국에서도 신뢰롭고 타당한 도구로서 사 용될 수 있음이 확인되었으며, 끝으로 본 연구의 시사점, 임상적 함의 및 앞으로의 연구 방향 에 대해 논의하였다.
