This article deals with the geographic attributes of Korean territory and the national systems of North and South Korea in terms of the specific nature of the Korean peninsula to discuss the variable geographical phenomena of the two Koreas. The geographic specificity of the Korean peninsula stems from its geopolitical positioning among the world powers of disparate ideologies, leading to the persistence of a divided territory. Geopolitics is deeply tied to the standing of the Korean peninsula and its man-made border within the territory. This article examines the two different systems and the resulting diverging geographical phenomena in North and South Korea with regard to development strategies and regional policy.

본 고는 한반도의 특수성의 관점에서 우리 국토의 지리적 속성과 남북한의 체제를 다루며, 이를 통해 남북한의 지리적 현상의 차이를 논한다. 지리적 위치성에 의해 형성된 한반도의 특수성이란 이념을 달리하는 강대국들에게 둘러싸인 지정학적 위치성과 이로 인한 국토 분단의 지속성이다. 이러한 특수성은 한반도의 지정학적 상황과 관련이 깊으며, 한반도의 내부에 인위적인 경계를 형성하였다. 이에 말미암아 남한과 북한이 상이한 체제를 갖추게 되었고, 궁극적으로 남한과 북한에서 발생하는 지리적 현상에 차이가 발생하였음을 발전 전략과 지역 정책의 관점에서 논한다.
