This study aimed to determine whether the experiences of sexual violence victims have an effect on their fear of sexual violence in North Korean refugee women, as North Korean refugee women are more likely to be victims of sexual violence in South Korea than in North Korea. Also, for North Korean refugee women, the cultural acceptance of the new society due to the settlement of a new society rather than the existing society was confirmed as an important factor for them to settle in the Korean society. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted on North Korean refugee women living in metropolitan areas such as Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. In addition, research questions were set based on domestic and foreign prior studies on women who defected from North Korea, experiences of victims of sexual violence, fear of sexual violence, and cultural acceptance. As a result of the study, it was investigated that the experiences of sexual violence victims of North Korean defectors increase their fear of sexual violence. In addition, the moderating effect of cultural acceptance in Korean society in the experience of sexual violence, the ultimate purpose of this study, was investigated to increase the fear of sexual violence. In other words, it was found that North Korean refugee women had a rather negative effect on the cultural acceptance of the newly migrating South Korean society. Based on these research results, policy recommendations were made to reduce the fear of sexual violence among North Korean defectors.

이 연구는 북한이탈여성이 북한에서 보다 남한에서 성폭력 피해가 더욱 높음에 따라 북한이탈여성을 대상으로 성폭력 피해경험이 성폭력 두려움에 영향을 미치는가를 확인하고자 하였다. 또한 북한이탈여성에게 있어서 기존 사회가 아닌 새로운 사회의 정착으로 인해 새로운 사회의 문화수용은 이들이 한국 사회에 대한 정착에 중요한 요소로 확인되어 한국 사회의 문화수용이 어떠한 조절효과를 가져오는지를 실증적으로 검증하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하고자 서울 및 경기도 등 수도권에 거주하는 북한이탈여성을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 또한 북한이탈여성, 성폭력 피해경험과 성폭력 두려움, 문화수용 등에 있어서 국내외 선행연구를 토대로 연구문제를 설정하였다. 연구결과, 북한이탈여성의 성폭력 피해경험은 성폭력 두려움을 증가시키는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 이 연구의 궁극적인 목적인 성폭력 피해경험에 있어서 한국 사회의 문화수용의 조절효과는 성폭력 두려움을 증가시키는 것으로 조사되었다. 즉, 북한이탈여성은 새롭게 이주하고 있는 한국 사회의 문화수용이 이들에게는 오히려 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 북한이탈여성의 성폭력 두려움을 감소할 수 있는 정책적 제언을 하였다.
