This thesis is an attempt to reflect on the emotional confucianism seen in Yulgok YiYi's writings, while paying attention to the concept of 'tolerance', which implies 'recognition of difference' and 'respect for difference'. Yulgok's multifaceted thoughts, which constituted an axis of Confucianism in Joseon, were divided into likes and dislikes according to the gaze of the beholder, and he became the subject of right and wrong at the center of controversy. Yulgok's the emotional confucianism is based on deep advocacy, respect, and trust for 'life'. Allowing and connecting the meeting of beings is communication and change, and it is also communication and communication. In this reciprocal mutual process, a ‘horizon of empathy’ is created, and the possibility of our coexistence here and now is also prepared. Therefore, exploring the topography of Joseon society in the 16th century described in Yulgok's writings at the boundary between tolerance and intolerance, this discussion does not remain merely as a past explanation of an aspect of Confucianism's life.
