This study thus raised the need to respond to climate change from a cultural and artistic perspective by raising awareness and understanding of the seriousness of climate change and reviewed cases of art projects according to the art concept and type of participation from a social-participatory approach. As a research method, this study utilized literature review and case studies to identify the concepts and flows related to research topics and examine previous cases. Art projects related to climate change were divided into four types of participation: nominal participation, directed participation, creative participation, and collaborative participation. Through case analysis, the significance of the socially engaged art project was identified as follows. ①such projects provide opportunities to raise awareness through art. ②the art project itself can act as a community, thereby forming a practical culture. ③various actors can have new artistic insights, which expands the base of art by giving an opportunity to change the art itself. ④it is possible to respond to social problem from an optimistic perspective rather than a demoralizing response. ⑤people continue to enjoy culture and arts by participating in the project, which can affect the audience development of the culture and arts community. Based upon this, three countermeasures against climate change in the field of culture and arts were presented. ①it is necessary to utilize a convergent network through the intervention of various fields and genres in implementing the project. ②there is a need to facilitate the immersion of the project target based on multifaceted participation. ③it is important to steadily expose the project itself to the general public by increasing the frequency, and in the long run, it should be recognized as a brand. As a result of the study, measures to cope with climate change in the field of culture and arts must be prepared and implemented, and this study confirmed that art activities with a social-participatory approach are crucial when it comes to expanding the base of art and cultural practice.

본 연구는 코로나 19로 인한 기후변화에 대한 이해를 통해 문화예술적 관점에서의 기후변화 대응의 필요성을 인식하고, 사회 참여적 접근의 예술 개념과 참여 유형에 따른 사례를 분석 해봄으로써, 기후변화에 대응하는 문화예술 분야의 역할과 자세를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구 방법으로 흐름을 파악하고 선례를 분석하기 위해 문헌연구와 사례연구를 활용하였다. 먼저, 문화예술의 사회적 가치와 역할을 살펴보고, 사회 참여적 접근의 문화예술 개념과 특성을 도출하였다. 또한, 기후변화 개념을 알아보고 세계의 움직임을 파악하였다. 파리협정 이후, 기후변화 관련 국내·외 예술 프로젝트 사례들을 명목적인 참여, 지시된 참여, 창의적 참여, 협업 수준의 참여 유형으로 나누고 분석하였다. 그 후 사회 참여예술 프로젝트의 의의를 5 가지로 파악하였다. ①예술을 통한 인식 제고의 기회가 마련된다. ②프로젝트가 커뮤니티로 작용 가능하며 실천적 문화가 형성될 수 있다. ③여러 주체가 새로운 예술적 통찰력을 가질 수 있게 되면서 저변이 확대된다. ④사회 문제를 낙관적인 관점으로 대응할 수 있다. ⑤프 로젝트에 참여함으로써 문화예술을 지속적으로 향유하게 되고, 이는 관객개발에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 이를 바탕으로 대응방안을 3가지로 제시하였다. ①융복합적인 네트워크 활용이 필 요하다. ②다각적 참여를 기반으로 몰입도를 향상하게 시켜야 한다. ③진행 횟수를 늘려 하 나의 브랜드로 인식되도록 해야 한다. 연구 결과, 문화예술분야의 기후변화 대응은 필요하 며, 이에 대한 문화적 실천을 위해 사회 참여적 예술 활동이 중요하다는 점을 확인하였다.
