Working Experienced by Nursing-assistant

The aim of this study is to identify and understand the meaning and essence of the working experienced by nursing assistants. This qualitative study used in-depth interview and analyzed according to Braun and Clarker’s 6 stepts of thmetic analysis. Participants included nursing assistant with over 3 year of experience working in medical institution. Five categories of difficulties faced by nursing assistants were derived from the results. These were: the ‘poor working environment’, ‘confusion of job identity’, ‘exposure to the forefront of abusive language and violence’, ‘loss of job motivation’, and ‘being like an accessory’. Participants experienced difficulties in their jobs because the legal standards was inadequate, and due to there was uncertainty regarding the scope and extent of their work. To overcome the difficulties faced by nursing assistants in their work, it is necessary to legally recognize and clarify their roles as well as to establish a legal standards.

본 연구는 간호조무사의 의료기관에서의 업무경험은 어떠한지를 이해하기 위해 시도된 질적 내용분석 연 구이다. 간호조무사 10명을 대상으로 심층면담을 하였으며 Braun과 Clarke이 제시한 주제분석 방법을 통해 수집 된 자료를 분석하였다. 간호조무사의 업무경험을 분석한 결과 5개의 주제를 도출하였다. 5개의 주제는 ‘열악한 근 무환경’, ‘직무정체성 혼란’, ‘폭언 및 폭력의 최전방에 노출’, ‘직무동기의 상실’, ‘부속품과 같은 존재’였다. 참여자들 은 함께 일하는 타 직종 특히, 간호사와의 모호한 업무의 경계로 인한 어려움 그로 인해 발생하는 차별을 경험하 고 있었다. 또한, 의료진 또는 환자, 보호자들로부터 폭언, 폭력에 노출된 최전방에 있다고 느끼고 있었으며, 이러 한 현상으로 인하여 참여자들은 간호조무사의 직무에 대한 동기를 상실하고, 본인들을 부속품과 같은 언제든지 바 꿔끼울 수 있는 존재라 생각하였다. 간호조무사의 업무상 어려움을 극복하기 위해, 표준화된 교육 프로그램 개발, 승진체계의 마련, 업무의 경계를 명확히 하기 위한 문서화된 업무규정 등의 마련이 필요하다.
