Since the 20th century, transcription of Gayageum Sanjo has been made using staff notation, but the practice still lacks a certain standard and reasonable method, exposing various problems. As performers transcribed musical scores individually rather than collectively as a group, the transcription methods were truly diverse. There are cases in which measures to secure the limits of staff have been sought, but there are many scores that have been mass-produced without even recognizing the basic considerations when transcribing. This paper diagnoses the problems revealed in the Gayageum Sanjo transcription scores so far, and deals with the elements to be considered important for rational transcription. The issues were placed on the aspects of real-tone notation and clef, changes in musical tones, notation of changes in central notes, sigimsae, jangdan and beats. Since the purpose of this paper was to discuss the problems or irrational points found in transcription, it was out of the question for the author to suggest a solution oneself. As a task that Gayageum players should seek in the future, this study focused on conveying the need to establish a minimum agreed-upon standard.

20세기부터 오선보를 활용한 가야금산조 채보가 이루어졌으나 초기부터 일정한 기준과 합리 적인 방법이 결여되었던 관행은 여전히 상존하여 여러 문제점을 노출하고 있다. 집단에 의한 공동 작업이 아닌 연주자 개개인의 채보이기 때문에 채보 방식은 그야말로 각양각색이었다. 오선보 한계를 보안할 방안을 모색한 경우도 있지만, 채보할 때에 기본적으로 고려할 사항조차 인식하지 못한 채 양산된 악보가 많다. 본고는 그간의 가야금산조 채보 악보에서 드러난 문제점을 진단하고, 이를 통해 합리적인 채보 를 위해서 중요하게 고려할 요소들을 다루었다. 논점은 실음기보와 음자리표, 조명(調名)과 청(淸) 변화 표기, 시김새, 장단과 박의 측면에 두었다. 본고의 목적은 채보에서 나타나는 문제점이나 불합리한 점을 논급하는 데에 두었으므로 필자 가 해결 방안 자체를 제시하는 것은 논외의 내용이었다. 본고 가야금 연주자들이 앞으로 모색해야 할 과제로서 최소한의 합의된 일정한 기준을 설정할 필요성을 전달하는 데에 의미를 두었다.
