The Corona 19 pandemic has been making so sweeping and critical an impact on all the areas of the Korean society in general and on the Church in particular since its outbreak at the end of 2019. It has contributed, among others, to weakening the spiritual unity of the church members and their mutual bond, and resulted in loosening their loyalty to their home churches. Besides this obvious transitional crisis, what is more troubling is that there has happened a rapid decrease of the Korean society’s confidence on both the church and Christian ministers these past 4 years. This current state of the affairs has been pressing wakeful and thoughtful Christians to make a creative response to such a decline in the social credibility of the church and its leaders. One may wonder how to break through this impasse? There may be various ways to deal with this deadlock. The present essay seeks to secure a way out to overcome this transitional crisis in the efforts of the pastors of the Reformed church((hereafter Reformed pastors) to examine their spiritual burnouts and repent from their sins in order to renew their sense of the divine calling. This essay aims to put forth a preliminary proposal to how to facilitate the spiritual renewal of the Reformed pastors and their growth, based on the theology of the Reformed Church on pastoral ministry. Its central thesis is that the Reformed Church’s pastors should achieve a quantum leap growth in four areas in order to cope with the critical affairs facing the Korean church, which include the rapid decline of social credibility of the church and an increasing anti-Christian sentiments of the Korean populace. The afore-mentioned four areas include the pastors’ deeper understanding of pastoral ministry, the pastoral leadership to embrace lay Christians as partners and coworkers, the capacity of the pastors to make a thoroughgoing self-examination, and their matured social leadership. Four supporting argumentations for this thesis have been presented. First, the growth of the Reformed pastors and their maturity can be accomplished through their deeper understanding of what it means to perform pastoral ministry. Secondly, the growth of the Reformed pastors and their maturity can be achieved through their full cooperation with lay Christians. Thirdly, the growth of the Reformed pastors and their maturity can be facilitated through their sincere self-examination and self-inspection. Lastly, the growth of the Reformed pastors and their maturity can be accomplished through their improvement of social leadership.

2019년 12월 말에 발생한 코로나 19 재난이 사회 모든 영역에 끼친 충격은 중대하 고 광범위했지만, 교회에 끼친 영향은 실로 압도적이다. 무엇보다도 그것은 교회 구성 원들의 영적 일치감과 결속감을 약화시켰으며, 하나님의 가시적이고 기구적인 교회에 대한 교우들의 충성심도 약화시켰다. 이 명백한 전환기적 내부적 위기 상황보다 한 국교회를 더 고통스럽게 하는 위기는 교회의 대(對)사회적 신인도 급락이다. 깨어있는 모든 그리스도인들이 피부로 체감하는 이 전환기적 위기상황은 교회의 비상한 응전을 촉구한다. 이 전환기적 위기상황을 어떻게 돌파할 것인가? 그 중에서도 우리는 목회 자의 자기성찰, 회개, 그리고 소명갱신에서 전환기적 위기돌파의 출구를 찾아보고자 한다. 이 논문은 개혁교회 목회론에 근거해 한국교회 목회자들의 영적 쇄신과 성장을 도모하기 위한 시론(試論)이다. 이 논문의 중심 논지는 기독교에 대한 사회적 신인도 가 급락하고 반기독교 혐오가 점증하는 위기상황을 돌파하기 위해 목회자는 네 가지 영역에서 비약적 성장이 요청된다는 것이다. 그것은 교회의 목회직에 대한 깊은 이해, 평신도와 동역하는 지도력, 자아성찰의 역량, 그리고 대(對) 세상 봉사능력 성장이다. 이 논지를 뒷받침하는 논거는 네 가지이다. 첫째, 개신교 목사의 성장과 성숙은 교회 에게 맡겨진 목회의 본질에 대한 견실한 이해에서 추동될 수 있다. 둘째, 개신교 목사 의 성장과 성숙은 평신도와 관계재설정에서 추동될 수 있다. 셋째, 목사의 성장과 성 숙은 치열하고 철저한 자기성찰과 자기검열을 통해 지속되고 심화될 수 있다. 넷째, 목사의 성장과 성숙은 대(對)사회적 지도력을 함양함으로써 성취될 수 있다.
