The purpose of this study is to look at the historical origin of swords and the process of change in shape by period, and to compare and analyze the characteristics of swords, which are currently performed in each region, to consider the historical connection. The expression of the dance changes depending on the dance and is handed down with regional characteristics. Most of the preceding studies on sword dance are studies on costumes, music, and dance movements. However, there has been little research on knives used as dance weapons. In this regard, this study historically enumerates the fundamental origins of knives and approaches the symbolism of knives along with the locality of today's staged sword dance. The results of this study will help to produce contents related to sword dance in local cultural heritage.

본 연구의 목적은 검에 대한 역사적 유래와 시대별 형상의 변천 과정을 살펴, 현재 지방별 연행되고 있는 검무 의 무구인 칼의 특징을 비교 분석하여 역사적 연계성을 고찰하고자 한다. 춤은 무구에 의해 표현이 달라지며 지역성과 함께 전승되고 있다. 검무에 대한 선행연구는 복식·악·춤사위에 관한 연구가 대부분 차지하고 있다. 그러나 무용 무구로 사용되는 칼의 연구는 거의 없었다. 이에 본 연구는 칼의 근원적 유래를 역사적으로 나열 하고, 오늘날 무대화된 검무의 지역성과 함께 칼의 상징성을 접근하였다. 이 연구의 성과는 지역문화유산에서 검무에 관련된 콘텐츠를 제작하는데 도움이 될 것이다.
