This study is to analyze the North Korean defectors' discourse strategies in YouTube broadcast discourses. To this end, I reviewed previous studies on discourse strategy and examined the discourse characteristics of North Korean broadcasters and North Korean defectors. As an approach for discourse analysis, I adopted the viewpoint of interactive sociolinguistics to analyze YouTube broadcast discourses focusing on discourse strategy, conversation style, and face theory. As a result, I found that North Korean defectors used repetition and questioning strategically. And they tend to use North Korean expressions as contextualization cues. In this study, face-threatening acts were partially found only in intimate relationships but leading the dialogues with response strategies through repetition to build up the opponent's face was found more frequently. When it comes to the female North Korean defectors, they often used high-involvement style speech characteristics like high pitch, overlapping, and high speed. North Korean defectors use various methods of speech depending on their time of entry into South Korea, educational background, hometown, and background of growth. Therefore, it is difficult to generalize the results of this study to all North Korean defectors. However, this study will be meaningful as a case study that analyzes the discourse of North Korean defectors and examines their discourse strategies in terms of understanding them.

본 연구의 목적은 유튜브 방송 담화에 나타난 북한이탈주민의 담화 전략을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 담화 전략에 관한 선행연구를 고찰하고 북한 방송 담화 및 북한이탈 주민의 담화적 특성에 대해 살펴보았다. 담화 분석에 대한 접근법 중 본 연구에서는 상 호작용 사회언어학을 주목하고, 여기서 강조하는 담화 전략, 대화 스타일, 체면 이론을 중심으로 유튜브 방송 담화를 선정하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 북한이탈주민은 반복과 질문을 전략적으로 활용하였으며, 북한식 표현을 맥락화 단서로 활용하는 경우가 발견 되었다. 본 연구에서 체면 위협 행위는 친밀한 관계에서 일부 나타났으나, 반복을 통한 맞장구와 호응 전략으로 상대의 체면을 세워주고 대화를 협력적으로 이끄는 양상이 많 이 발견되었다. 그리고 여성들의 경우 고조, 말 겹치기, 빠른 속도 등 고-참여 스타일의 발화적 특성을 보였다. 북한이탈주민은 한국 입국 시기, 학력, 고향, 성장 배경 등에 따 라 다양한 화법을 구사하므로 본 연구의 결과를 북한이탈주민 전체의 것으로 일반화하 기는 어렵다. 그러나 본 연구는 북한이탈주민 이해의 측면에서 이들의 담화를 분석하 고 담화 전략을 살펴본 하나의 사례 연구로 의의를 지닐 것이다.
