Currently the main textbooks of King Sejong Institute are integrated functional textbooks that have been developed and used for the intermediate level (grade 4) at the highest. Therefore, there is a need for a textbook that can improve writing skills while satisfying learners’ needs for advanced levels. This study presents the principles and practice of developing the textbook , a function-separated textbook of King Sejong Institute. Chapter Ⅰ deals with the necessity and content of the research. Chapter Ⅱ examines the current status of writing education at King Sejong Institutes to collect basic data for the development of a writing textbook, and analyzes Korean textbooks published in Korea, including the existing textbooks of King Sejong Institute. Chapter Ⅲ reviews previous studies dealing with the development of writing textbooks and reviews the theoretical background necessary for the development of the writing textbook by examining the principles of writing education needed. Chapter Ⅳ discusses the principles and procedures of subject selection, curriculum design, and instructional agenda design included in the writing textbook. In Chapter Ⅴ shows the reality of a unit in which the contents discussed in the previous chapters are concreted. Chapter Ⅵ summarizes the discussions and mentions the expected effects of the development of the writing textbook.

현재 세종학당의 주 교재는 기능 통합형 교재로 중급2(4급) 수준까지만 개발되어 활 용되고 있다. 따라서 고급 수준에 대한 학습자들의 요구를 충족하면서 쓰기 능력 향상 할 수 있는 교재가 필요하다. 이 연구는 세종학당의 기능 분리형 교재인 『세종학당 한 국어 쓰기』 교재 개발의 원리와 실제를 제시하고 있다. Ⅰ장에서는 연구의 필요성과 내 용을 다루었다. Ⅱ장에서는 쓰기 교재 개발을 위한 기초 자료를 수집하기 위해 세종학 당에서 진행되고 있는 쓰기 교육의 현황을 조사하며, 세종학당의 기존 교재를 비롯하 여 국내에서 간행된 한국어 교재를 분석했다. Ⅲ장에서는 쓰기 교재 개발을 다룬 선행 연구를 고찰한 후에 필요한 쓰기 교육의 원리를 살펴서 쓰기 교재 개발에 필요한 이론 적 배경을 검토했다. Ⅳ장에서는 쓰기 교재에 포함되는 주제 선정, 교육과정 설계, 교 수요목 설계의 원리와 절차를 논의했다. Ⅴ장에서는 앞 장에서 논의된 내용이 구체적 으로 교재에서 실현되는 단원의 실제를 보였다. Ⅵ장에서는 논의를 정리하면서 쓰기 교재의 개발이 가져올 기대 효과를 언급했다.
