Since the period of opening to the World, the Korean Catholic Church could have the freedom of faith for the first time after ending of the persecution period. The devout kept up the faith by the Marian devotion even they were suffering from the Korean War. And also, many groups of people fellowshipped in faith as catholic church was growing bigger. Recently, the number of people interested in the miracle phenomena and the historical revelation of th Virgin Mary has increased. This is related to people generate confusion and anxiety as moving into a new epoch. However, the Marian Devotion should be well-established through high level of research.

박해시대 이후 처음으로 신앙의 자유가 주어졌던 개항기 이후부터 한국전쟁이라는 고통 속에서도 신자들은 꾸준한 성모신심생활을 유지했을 뿐 아니라 교회의 성장 속에서 단체들의 활발한 활동과 함께 그 신심을 이어왔으나, 최근 들어 성모님에 관련된 기적적 현상이나 사적 계시 문제에 많은 관심이 쏠렸던 것도 사실이다. 이것은 새로운 한 세기로 넘어갈 때 일반적으로 대중이 불안한 심리를 갖는다는 시대적 특성과도 무관하지는 않으나, 좀 더 깊은 학문연구를 통해 올바른 성모신심이 확립되어야 한다는 사실에는 변함이 없다.
