China’s economic slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly influenced not only GDP, but the livelihoods for citizens, particularly health status of older adults. As part of China’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this paper explored how China’s social policy has responded to the Covid-19 crisis, focusing on health services for older adults in China. The paper examined, first of all, China’s social security system and its overall performance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Secondly, it explored the COVID-19’s impact on health services for older adults and their corresponding coping measures. Finally, the paper made an attempt to provide a summary statement for the enlightenment of the COVID-19 prevention and control experience on the services. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has had negative impacts on the services for older adults in China. Five policy implications are recommended to China’s health services to mitigate the damages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to older adults.

COVID-19 대유행에 따른 경제 둔화는 국내총생산(GDP)뿐만 아니라 중국의 민생, 특히 고령자의 삶 의 질에 커다란 영향을 미쳤다. 본 글은 COVID-19 대유행에 대한 중국 정부 대응의 하나인 고령자 건강서비스에 초점을 두면서 중국 사회정책이 코로나19 위기에 어떻게 대응했는지를 살펴보고자 했 다. 즉 COVID-19 위기에 대한 사회정책 대응을 고령자의 건강서비스에 초점을 맞추어 분석했는데, 본 글의 내용은 다음의 세 가지로 구성했다. 첫째, 중국의 사회보장제도와 COVID-19 대유행에 대한 중국의 전반적인 성과를 검토했다. 둘째, COVID-19 대유행이 중국의 고령자 건강서비스에 미치는 영 향과 그에 상응하는 대처 방안을 집중적으로 다루었다. 마지막으로, 중국의 고령자 건강서비스에 대 한 COVID-19 예방 및 통제 경험을 이해하기 위한 간략한 요약문을 제공하고자 했다. 더군다나 COVID-19 대유행은 중국의 고령자 건강서비스에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이에 COVID-19 대유행으 로 인한 중국의 고령자 건강서비스의 피해를 완화하기 위해 5가지 정책 건의를 권고했다.
