This paper focused on Seogwipo City, a region that is emerging as a city of healing and care for modern people, and tried to examine how Seogwipo is represented through poetry. Seogwipo, which appears in modern poetry, is expressed in the form of healing and care, and in particular, attention was paid to the elements of nature, wind and ocean. Specifically, 'Seogwipo' appeared in the poems of Seo Jeong-ju and Kim Chun-soo was analyzed. In addition, poems such as Kim Kwang-hyeop, Moon Chung-sung, Han Gi-pal, Oh Seung-cheol, and Kang Young-eun, poets from Seogwipo born and raised in Seogwipo, were analyzed to reconstruct Seogwipo, which was recognized as an emotional space. In short, it was confirmed that Seogwipo is a new area that is attracting attention geographically, culturally, and literature.

본고는 현대인에게 치유와 힐링의 공간으로 새롭게 부상하는 지역 ‘서귀포시’에 주목하 면서, 서귀포가 어떤 모습으로 시를 통해 표상되고 있는지를 살펴보고자 했다. 현대시에 등장하는 ‘서귀포’는 치유와 힐링의 장소로 표출되고 있으며, 특히 자연(自然)의 요소인 바람, 물(바다)을 통해 표상되고 있었다. 구체적으로는 서정주, 김춘수의 시편에 등장하는 ‘서귀포’를 분석하였다. 또한, 서귀포 에서 나고 자란 서귀포 출신 김광협, 한기팔, 오승철, 강영은 등의 시편을 분석하여 정서적 공간으로서의 서귀포와 귀거래(歸去來)로 인식된 서귀포를 재구해보고자 했다. ‘서귀포’는 지리적, 문화적, 문학적으로 새롭게 주목되는 지역임을 확인할 수 있었다.
