The social and economic instability that came with the Corona Pandemic is presented as the core of the process in which violent extremism can develop. The recent surge in self-sustaining terrorism, lonely wolf-type terrorism, and large-scale collective action of extremist groups make people pay attention to the fact that radicalism and violent extremism are present together. In addition, terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaida have started to rebuild their organizations under the influence of the Taliban, which re-occupied Afghanistan, and are intensively targeting violent extremist forces and young people by actively engaged in online Jihad propaganda to show off the robustness of the organization. There are no terrorist incidents caused by Islamic terrorist groups in the Middle East, but Korea is experiencing the domestic impact of global terrorism, including raising funds, hiding foreign terrorist fighters in Korea, and attaching threatening flyers to the French Embassy in Seoul in the aftermath of the beheading of history teachers in Paris. Therefore, in this paper, exploratory research was conducted to prevent violent extremism in this situation, and the causes and various motives of violent extremism were analyzed and focused on the U.S. Congressional Party intrusion incident. Based on this, there are implications for examining the implications for preventing and responding to violent extremism, and further suggesting policies for important national facilities and directions for follow-up research.

코로나 팬데믹과 함께 찾아온 사회·경제적 불안정성은 폭력적 극단주의를 확산시킬 가능성이 있다. 일반적으로 극단주의단체에의한 집단행동은 폭력성을 동반할 수있다 는 점에 주목해야한다. 예컨대, 아프가니스탄을 점령한 탈레반은 조직의 건재함을 과 시하기 위하여 적극적인 온라인 지하드 선전전으로 폭력적 극단주의 세력의 참여를 유 도하고 폭력적 사례를 야기하였다. 우리나라는 이슬람계열 단체에 기인한 테러가 전무 하지만 해외자금을 조달하거나 외국인 전투원의 은신처 등의 간접 영향권에 있다. 이 논문은 이러한 국제정세에서 폭력적 극단주의 예방을 목적으로한다. 따라서『미의회 의사당 난입사건』을 분석하여 원인과 동기를 탐색하였다. 이를 바탕으로 국내 국가중 요시설에 대한 폭력적 극단주의 세력의 테러 및 위협적 단체행동에 대한 예방과 대응 책을 시사하고, 정책 및 후속연구의 방향을 함의하였다.
