Art deco style emphasized simple and functional straight beauty by combining industrial production methods with art. Since the 1930s, modern elements such as functionalism, geometric forms, and the use of new materials have been added, and the styles suitable for mass production have been pursued. In addition, Art deco, which compromises exotic and heterogeneous styles, has been developed harmoniously, showing decorative tendencies and bold color combinations according to functionality, and has been steadily used representing uniqueness and popularity in various fields. Fantasy makeup illustration is to visualize and design abstract or special images according to the subject to be expressed in consideration of the three-dimensional characteristics of the face and decolte. This study analyzed the formative characteristics and design examples of the works of representative artists in the art style of Art deco, and tried to study fantasy makeup illustration by applying these aesthetic motifs. By reinterpreting the formative characteristics of the Art deco design into fantasy makeup illustrations based on artistic trends, this study tried to find a way to develop differentiated formative artistic fantasy makeup designs and realize unique images that fuse with popular art styles. It produced fantasy makeup illustration works after reviewing data of Art deco art style and fantasy makeup illustration and analyzing their formative characteristics.

아르데코 예술양식은 산업화된 공업적 생산 방식 을 미술과 결합시켜 단순하고 기능적인 직선미를 중 요시하였다. 1930년대 이후 기능주의와 기하학적인 형태, 신소재의 사용 등 모던한 요소가 가미되면서 대량생산에 적합한 스타일을 추구하였다. 또한 이국 적이고 이질적인 양식을 절충한 아르데코는 기능성 에 따른 장식적인 성향, 과감한 색상배합의 특징을 나타내며 조화롭게 발전되었으며, 현재까지 꾸준히 다양한 분야에서 독특함과 대중성을 표방하며 활용 되고 있다. 판타지 메이크업 일러스트레이션은 얼굴 및 데콜 테를 대상으로 입체적 특성을 고려하여 표현하고자 하는 주제에 따라 추상적 또는 특별한 이미지를 시 각화하여 디자인하는 것이다. 본 연구는 아르데코 예술양식에 나타난 조형적 특 성과 대표 작가들의 작품의 특성, 디자인 사례들을 분석하고, 이러한 미적 모티브를 응용하여 판타지메 이크업 일러스트레이션을 연구하고자 하였다. 아르데코 디자인의 조형적 특성을 예술적 경향에 근거한 판타지 메이크업 일러스트스트레이션 작품으 로 재해석하여 제작함으로서 대중적인 예술양식과 융합하는 차별화된 조형예술적 판타지 메이크업 디 자인 개발과 독특한 이미지 구현의 방향을 모색하고 자 하였다. 아르데코 예술양식과 판타지 메이크업 일러스트레이션에 관한 자료를 고찰하고 조형적 특 성을 분석한 후 판타지 메이크업 일러스트레이션 작 품을 제작하였다. 연구결과 기능적이고 반복적인 직선·사선·방사 형, 유선형 등의 기하학적 표현, 모던함과 화려함의 색상 배색 등 아르데코 조형 예술적 표현들이 얼굴 및 데콜테의 입체성과 융합하여 독특한 아르데코 디 자인의 미적 이미지 구현이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다.
