The present systematic review identified seven studies that have evaluated the SCERTS model as an intervention for a total of 455 children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The articles were summarized in terms of study design, participant characteristics, intervention procedures, outcomes, and methodological rigor. Most studies reported positive child and implementer outcomes. The included articles were group and single case-design, but nearly half of the studies were rated as weak in terms of methodological rigor. We conclude that the SCERTS model is a potentially promising intervention but further high-quality studies are required to demonstrate its effectiveness.
