W.B. Yeats came up with Cuchulain, the ancient hero, and Pearse and Connolly, the modern heroes, as the archetype of Irish heroic culture. Cuchulain was a type of Pearse and Connolly. The cycles of heroic culture become the transmigration of the soul by being true of a man’s spirit. Therefore, Yeats emphasizes contemporary man through the life and death of Cuchulain that not only heroic culture but also the life of people changes and circles round.
