The aim of this paper is examine the customs and regional characteristics of Gang-neung in Hong-jeon Shim Sang-ryong's (1855-1913) . EVH consists of eight landscape elements ; 1. See the bountiful scenery of the Jig-mu field, 2. Checking of firewood in the combined water area 3. Fisherman's song at the Silk stream, 4. The shepherd's flute on the boat bridge, 5. The rainy season seen from the bamboo mound, 6. Cooling down on the Mu-u, 7. Moonrise on a small hill, 8. Running on ice under the sunrise bridge. All works except 5 and 6 focus on the customs of the Gang-neung region, especially the practical lives and customs of ordinary people. This can be said to be a unique characteristic of EVH that is clearly differentiated from other collection poems that contain the conceptual world of Confucianism. Shim Sang-ryong was born in Gang-neung during a period of turbulence, worked hard to revive Confucianism, and maintained his life as a Confucian scholar throughout his life. EVH can be said to be a valuable resource that contains the world and attitude of life that Confucian scholars dreamed of in the late Han Dynasty.

본 논문에서는 심상룡의 생애와 그가 쓴 누정집경시 <해운정팔경>의 특징 과 지역적 성격을 살펴보았다. <해운정팔경>은 ‘1. 직무관화(直畝觀禾), 2. 이수점시(二水點柴), 3. 금계어가(錦溪漁歌), 4. 선교목적(船橋牧篴), 5. 죽방 관란(竹坊觀瀾), 6. 무우납량(舞雩納凉), 7. 소대후월(小臺候月), 8. 섬교치빙 (暹橋馳氷)’으로 구성되어 있다. 이중 ‘5. 죽방관란(竹坊觀瀾)’과 ‘6. 무우납량 (舞雩納凉)’을 제외한 모든 작품이 강릉지역의 풍속, 특히 일반 백성들의 실질 적인 삶과 풍속에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 이는 유가의 관념적 세계를 담고 있는 여타의 집경시들과 또렷하게 차별되는 <해운정팔경>만의 특징이라 할 수 있다. 심상룡은(1855-1913) 격변기에 강릉에서 태어나 유학 부흥을 위해 노력하 였고, 일생동안 유학자로서의 삶을 견지한 인물이다. <해운정팔경>은 구한말 유학자가 꿈꿨던 세상과 삶의 태도를 담고 있는 소중한 자료라 할 수 있다.
