The fact that the location of the Beopjeong temple during the Beopjeongsa anti-Japanese movement in Jeju in 1918 was adjacent to the residential area of the slash and burn farmers who participated in the anti-Japanese movement was highlighted. According to the records related to the anti-Japanese movement demonstrated in the Trial Decision of the case of Koo-yong, Jeong and the moving dotted lines around the temple shown on the Jeju map of the 1918 Joson 1/50,000 topographical map, it was disclosed that some of the slash and burn farmers took part in the anti-Japanese movement as activists. At the field check, it was confirmed that some of the access roads and the remains of the homes of the slash and burn farmers as shown on the topographic map remained. Through interviewing the farmers’ descendants and checking out the family trees of them, it was proved that some of the farmers served as the anti-Japan activists in the anti-Japanese movement. In the process of collecting evidence, it was revealed that even during the period of Japanese colonial rule after the temple was burned by the Japanese police, the temple was still functioning as a temple by the Bodhisattva, In-hwa, Baek. It was confirmed that the temple was closed due to the Jeju4·3 uprising and the current Beopjeong temple was founded between 1954 and 1963.

법정사의 위치와 관련 방동화 스님의 아들 방진주의 증언에 의해 알려 진 법정사 터에 대해 최근 새로운 주장을 하는 보고서가 나오는 등 혼란 이 일고 있다. 이에 『정구용판결문』에 등장하는 항일운동 진출로 일원의 화전민 터를 확인함으로써 항일운동 발상지의 위치에 대한 추가적 자료를 제시하고, ‘1918년 조선오만분일지형도’ 제주지형도에 보이는 법정사 주변 화전민들 의 참여 및 이들 화전민들 중 법정사 항일운동에 참여한 후손과 지역민을 만나 면담과 가계도를 통해 화전 터 위치를 확인했다. 현장 확인 과정에서는 지형도에 보이는 길이 항일운동 진출로이며 화전 민 집터와 연결됐음도 확인했다. 법정사와 관련한 증언 채록과정에 안봉려 관과 백인화 보살과의 관계를 통해 법정사 터가 일제 경찰에 의해 불탄 후 일제강점기에도 백인화 보살에 의해 사찰 기능을 하고 있다 4·3사건 으로 폐찰 됐음도 확인됐다. 현재 사찰 기능을 하고 있는 법정사가 1954년 이후 1964년도 사이에 창건됨이 새롭게 나타나 이를 정리했다.
