The study aimed to examine effects that procrastination motive and behavior have on psychological inconvenience (depression and anxiety). Subjects to the study include 523 adults aged 20 to 59, and PMS, GPS, Revised K-ACQ, BAI and BDI were conducted. SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 were used for the purpose of analyzing data. The study assumed that procrastination motive would result in psychological unadjustment by a medium of perceived control through procrastination behavior. As a result of verification, in the route leading to depression and anxiety, complete mediating effects of perceived control was supported. It confirmed that the perceived control plays an important role when a procrastinator experiences depression and anxiety. Lastly, the significance and limitations of the results of the study were discussed.

본 연구는 지연동기, 지연행동이 심리적 불편감(우울, 불안)에 영향을 미치는 변인을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 국내에 거주하는 만 20세~59세의 성인 남녀 523명(남자 192명, 여자 331명)으로 지연동기 척도(Procrastination Motives Scale: PMS), 지연행동 척도(General Procrastination Scale: GPS), 지각된 통제감 척도(Korean version of the Anxiety Control Questionnaire: Revised K-ACQ), 불안 척도(Beck's Anxiety Inventory: BAI), 우울 척도(Beck's Depression Inventory: BDI)를 실시하였다. 자료 분석 방법으로는 SPSS 23.0과 AMOS 23.0을 사용하였다.본 연구에서는 지연동기가 지연행동을 거쳐 지각된 통제감을 매개로 심리적 부적응(우울, 불안)에 이를 것으로 가정하였다. 검증 결과 지연동기에 의한 지연행동이 심리적 부적응(우울, 불안)에 이르는 경로에서 지각된 통제감의 완전매개효과를 지지하였다. 즉, 지연자가 심리적 부적응(우울, 불안)을 경험하면서 지각된 통제감이 중요한 역할을 하고 있다는 것이 확인되었다.끝으로 본 연구의 결과에 따른 의의와 제한점을 논의하였다.
