Currently, Korea has grown into a major country in the international community, and now It will have to play a role commensurate with its national status in the United Nations. By actively contributing to the establishment of the international peace order rather than passive participation in the UN's international peacekeeping activities, In the future, in case of an emergency on the Korean Peninsula, the cause of obtaining support from the international community should be accumulated. In order for Korea to actively participate in the UN's international peacekeeping activities, it is first necessary to resolve the conflicting interests between Korea and the UN and the United Nations forces host country. To do so, in terms of the legality of international peacekeeping activities, consent of the parties and impartiality, Non-use of force except self–defence, neutrality should be reviewed first. This study looks for a normative model which Korea's participation in the United Nations forces can achieve the desired results through the review of the legality of international peacekeeping activities, Based on this, the purpose is to lay the foundation for Korea to find its position as the mainstream of the international community by actively participating in the UN peacekeeping activities.

현재 한국은 국제사회의 주요한 국가로 성장하였고 이제는 유엔에서도 국가적 위상 에 걸맞는 역할을 해야할 것이다. 유엔의 국제평화유지활동에 수동적 참여가 아니라 국제평화질서 구축에 능동적으로 기여함으로써, 차후에 한반도 유사시 국제사회의 지 원을 얻을 수 있는 명분을 축적해야 할 것이다. 한국이 유엔의 국제평화유지활동에 적극적으로 참여하기 위해서는 먼저 한국과 유엔 및 국제연합군 접수국가 간의 상충된 이해관계를 해소하는 것이 필요하다. 그러기 위해서는 국제평화유지활동에 대한 적법 성 측면에서, 당사자의 동의, 공정성, 자위를 제외한 무력불사용, 중립성의 검토가 선 행되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 국제평화유지활동의 적법성 검토를 통해서, 한국이 국 제연합군에의 참여가 소기의 성과를 거둘 수 있는 규범적인 모델을 찾아보고, 그것을 바탕으로 한국이 유엔의 평화유지활동에 적극적으로 참여함으로써 국제사회의 주류로 서의 위치를 찾아가는 토대를 만들어 가는데 목적이 있다.
