A Study on Eating Habits and Nutrient Intakes of Male Professional Golf Players

The purpose of this study is to investigate the eating habits and nutrient intakes of some golf players belonging to the Korea Professional Golf Association. The average age was 29 years old, the average height and weight were 175.9cm and 75.9kg, and the average body mass index was 24.5m/kg2. 75% of the subjects said they had breakfast every day, and 50% said they had a regular meal every day. In addition, 63% of the subjects answered that they tried to eat moderately. 38% of subjects reported eating protein foods daily and 19% of subjects eating vegetables and fruits daily. And 38% of them regularly consumed milk and dairy products as a source of calcium on a daily basis. As a result of the nutrients intake survey, energy, protein, and most vitamins and minerals were found to be higher than the DRI for Korean, but the intake of vitamin C, calcium, and magnesium was lower than tthe DRI for Korean. Through the results of this study, it is hoped that some professional golf players' eating habits and nutritional intake problems will be recognized, and education and professional nutrition support programs for efficient nutrient intakes and nutrition management will be provided.
