Applicability Evaluation of Maqui Berry Extract for Semi-permanent Makeup Pigments

In this study, L* (brightness), a* (redness), and b* (yellowness) values were measured with a color difference to confirm the possibility of a natural pigment product for semi-permanent makeup by adding a maquiberry extract to a semi-permanent cosmetic pigment solution. In addition, heavy metals were analyzed using ICP-MS. As a result of the study, the chromaticity of the maquiberry mixed extract did not show a significant difference from the undiluted color solution in the sample to which L*, a*, and b* values up to 50% were added. The values of * and a* did not show a significant difference up to 50% with the pigment stock solution, but the b* value, which is the yellowness, showed a tendency to decrease due to the influence of the maquiberry extract. As a result of ICP-MS analysis, it was confirmed that heavy metals such as Cd, Cr, As, and Pb were reduced by more than half in the sample to which 50% maquiberry extract was added. Therefore, the results of this study confirmed the possibility that semi-permanent cosmetic pigments using Maquiberry natural extracts can be applied as safer natural products than conventional pigments, and it is expected that various functional natural extracts can be applied to cosmetic pigments.
