The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the components(physical, social, and organizational culture elements) of a sports city through the vitalization of public sports facilities on the intention to participate in sports activities and attitudes toward public sports facilities. To meet these goals, 356 college students and staff participated to the study. Multiple regression analyses were employed to examine the relationships between variables. The findings of the study were as follows; first, the components of a sports city had effects on participation in sports activities; and second, the components of becoming a sports city also had effects on attitudes toward public sports facilities. In conclusion, it is clear that efforts to build a sports city by a local government have very close connections to citizens' participation in sports activities and their attitudes toward public sports activities and that a local government should explore methods to utilize its excellent natural environments in multilateral aspects. It is thus needed to search for directions to promote sustainable policies for building a sports city by holding a range of programs and sports events to stimulate local residents' interest and participation.

이 연구는 공공스포츠시설 활성화를 통한 스포츠도시화 구성요소(물리적 요소, 사회적 요소, 조직문화적 요소)가 스포츠활동 참여의도와 공공스포츠시설에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향을 규명하여 공공스포츠 시설의 지속가능한 활용성을 위한 스포츠도시화 방향을 제시하고 이를 기반으로 보다 발전적인 스포츠도시 문화의 조성을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 바탕으로 제시한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스포츠도시화 구성요소는 스포츠활동 참여에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 스포츠도시화 구성요소는 공공스포츠시설에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결론을 종합해 보면 스포츠도시화를 위한 지자체의 노력은 시민들의 스포츠활동 참여와 공공스포츠시설을 대하는 태도 에 매우 긴밀한 연관성이 있다고 판단되며 지방자치 단체가 소유하고 있는 뛰어난 자연 환경을 활용하기 위한 다각적 측면의 방법이 모색되어야 한다. 따라서 지역 주민들의 관심과 참여를 유발 할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램과 스포츠이벤트 개최를 통해 지속가능한 스포츠도시화의 정책 방향을 모색해야 할 것이다.
