This paper examined the problems of Vietnamese notation of foreign language notation, and discussed some parts that urgently need improvement in Vietnamese notation. The foreign language notation system advocates 'original sound' based on the pronunciation of the original language as a basic principle, but there are a number of problems in the Vietnamese notation in that the standard for the 'original sound' is not clear. Although the standard language and standard pronunciation are not determined at the national level, the pronunciation of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and the center of history, politics, and administration, is commonly used throughout Vietnam, so it would be reasonable to consider it as the standard of 'original sound'. The 'The table of Vietnamese Alphabet and Hangeul' and the 'Vietnamese notation' in the detailed rules for notation generally follow the northern pronunciation centered on Hanoi, but for some letters, the southern pronunciation is suggested, resulting in a fixation of incorrect notation. In this regard, I suggested an improvement plan for the Korean notation such as r, n, and nh, etc., and considered the problems in clause 4 of the detailed rules for notation, and suggested that it be deleted.

본고에서는 외래어 표기법의 베트남어 한글 표기에 있어 문제점을 살펴 보고, 베트남어 표기법에 있어 개선이 시급한 몇몇 부분에 대해 논의하였 다. 외래어 표기법은 원어의 발음을 바탕으로 하는 ‘원음주의’를 기본 원칙 으로 표방하고 있으나 베트남어 표기법에 있어서는 그 ‘원음’의 기준이 명 확하지 않다는 점에서 다수의 문제점이 발생하고 있다. 표준어와 표준 발음이 국가 수준에서 정해져 있지 않은 베트남어이지만, 베트남의 수도로서 역사, 정치, 행정의 중심인 하노이 지역의 발음이 베트남 전역에서 통용되 므로 이를 ‘원음’의 기준으로 보는 것이 타당할 것이다. 표기 일람표의 ‘베트남어 자모와 한글 대조표’와 표기 세칙의 ‘베트남 어 표기’는 하노이를 중심으로 한 북부 발음을 대체로 따르면서도 일부 글 자에 대해 남부 발음을 기준으로 한 표기를 제시함으로써 모호한 기준으로 인해 표기의 혼돈을 초래하는 결과를 낳았다. 이와 관련하여 r, n, nh 등의 한글 표기에 대한 개선 방안을 제시하였으며, 표기 세칙 4항의 문제점을 고 찰하고 이를 삭제할 것을 제안하였다.
