This study starts with the recognition that elementary school teachers who form a positive self and guide students at a critical time for proper growth and overall development should increase job satisfaction so that they can engage in education with a more active attitude. Therefore, correlation analysis and mid-regression analysis were conducted on 167 elementary school teachers nationwide to find out the effect of elementary school teachers' empathy and vocational calling on teacher job satisfaction. The results of the study are as follows. First, there was a significant correlation between the empathy ability, job calling consciousness, and job satisfaction of elementary school teachers. Second, as a result of multiple regression analysis, cognitive empathy among the sub-factors of empathy had a positive effect on job satisfaction, but emotional empathy did not have a significant effect. Third, as a result of multiple regression analysis, one of the sub-factors of job calling consciousness had a positive effect on job satisfaction, but work value, contribution and commitment motivation did not have a significant effect. Through the above results, implications for emotional support and job satisfaction improvement for elementary school teachers' empathy and job calling awareness were provided, and suggestions for follow-up studies on teacher job satisfaction were provided.

본 연구는 초등교사가 직무상황에서 만족을 느껴 능동적인 자세로 교육활동과 직무를 수행하도록 직무만족도를 높여야 한다는 인식에서 출발하였다. 이에 초등 교사의 공감능력과 직업소명의식이 교사 직무만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 전국 초등교사 167명을 대상으로 상관분석과 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등교사의 공감능력, 직업소명의식, 직무만 족도는 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 중다회귀분석 결과, 공감능력의 하위 요인 중 인지적 공감능력은 직무만족도에 정적인 영향을 주었으나, 정서적 공감 능력은 유의한 영향을 주지 않았다. 셋째, 중다회귀분석 결과, 직업소명의식의 하위요인 중 일 목적지향, 천직의식, 이타 행동은 직무만족도에 정적인 영향을 주었으나, 일 가치감, 기여와 헌신 동기는 유의한 영향을 주지 않았다. 이상의 결과를 통해서 초등교사의 공감능력과 직업소명의식 향상을 위한 지원 방안과 직 무만족도 증진을 위한 방안에 대한 시사점을 제공하였고, 교사 직무만족도의 후 속 연구에 대한 제안점을 제공하였다.
