The purpose of this study was to verify the impact of perceptions of working environment safety and self-efficacy as sequential mediators in the relationship between supervision and client violence-coping competency. The participants were 249 social workers working for the General Social Welfare Center, Senior Welfare Center, and Welfare Center for the Disabled in Seoul City. Sequential mediating effect analysis was carried out using SPSS PROCESS MACRO Model 6 (Hayes, 2013). The results of the analyses are as follows. First, the perception of working environment safety had an insignificant mediation effect on the relationship between supervision and client violence-coping competency. Second, self-efficacy had an insignificant mediation effect on the relationship between supervision and client violence-coping competency. Third, the perception of working environment safety and self-efficacy showed sequential mediating effects in the relationship between supervision and client violence-coping competency. Based on these results, a number of practical and institutional implications, as well as suggestions for future research, are discussed.

본 연구는 슈퍼비전이 사회복지사의 클라이언트 폭력 대처역량에 미치는 영향에 있어 근무환경 안전인식과 자기효능감의 순차매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울시 내 종합사회복지관 ․ 노인복지관 ․ 장애인복 지관에 근무하는 사회복지사 249명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, Hayes(2013)의 SPSS PROCESS MACRO Model 6를 이용하여 설문 데이터 분석을 진행하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 슈퍼비전과 클라이언트 폭력 대처역량 간의 관계에서 근무환경 안전인식은 매개효과를 가지지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 슈퍼비전과 클라이언트 폭력 대처역량 간의 관계에서 자기효능감은 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나 타났다. 셋째, 슈퍼비전은 직접적으로 클라이언트 폭력 대처역량에는 영향을 미치지 않지만 근무환경 안전인식 과 자기효능감을 순차적으로 매개하여 클라이언트 폭력 대처역량에는 긍정적인 영향을 미침이 확인되었다. 이 러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 사회복지사의 클라이언트 폭력 대처역량을 높이기 위한 실천적, 제도적 차원의 제언 및 후속 연구의 방향성을 제시하였다.
