This study aims to understand the therapy and recovery experiences of drug addicts who maintain abstinence for more than 1 year. For this purpose, the consented two drug addicts in 20s participated. The collected data were analyzed, using the method suggested by Stake(1995) and four categories and nine themes were defined. The first category entitled ‘Thrown into the bondage of pain’ revealed ‘drugs encountered in anger and loneliness’, ‘cycles of pleasure and suffering', The second category entitled ‘An encounter a meaningful Other on the blick of life’ encompassed ‘Others as more therapeutic relationships than family’, ‘clinging to the God with desperation’. The third category entitled 'Struggle to free from the bondage of mental pain’ revealed ‘finding a way to control cravings’, ‘self-reflection on distorted thinking’, ‘awareness of the obsession need for the instant gratification', The last category entitled 'Caring for wounds, with growth and maturity’ encompassed ‘Patiently preparing to be resilient’, ‘Moving forward growth through true self-understanding' was found. Based on the study findings, loneliness due to disconnection from social relationships, beliefs and values, the meaning of suffering and growth, and improve of social awareness were discussed for counseling and recovery programs for the recovery and therapy of drug addicts.

본 연구는 1년 이상 단약을 유지하고 있는 마약중독자의 치유 와 회복경험을 이해하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 20 대 남성 2명을 연구참여자로 선정하였고, Stake(1995)의 자료 분석방법에 따라 진행하였다. 연구결과, 연구참여자의 치유와 회 복 경험은 첫째, ‘고통의 굴레에 던져짐’에서는 ‘분노와 외로움 속에서 만난 마약’, ‘쾌락과 고통의 순환’, 둘째, ‘삶의 벼랑 끝에 서 의미있는 타자를 만남’에서는 ‘가족보다 더 치료적인 관계로 서 타인’, ‘절박함으로 절대자에게 매달림’, 셋째, ‘고통의 굴레에 서 벗어나기 위한 악전고투’에서는 ‘갈망을 통제할 수 있는 방법 을 찾음’, ‘왜곡된 사고에 대한 자기 성찰’, ‘즉각적 만족을 원하 는 충동과 강박에 대한 자각’, 넷째, ‘상처를 보듬고 성장과 성숙 으로’에서는 ‘회복력 강화를 위해 인내하며 준비함’, ‘참자기 이 해를 통해 성장을 향해 나아가기’라는 주요 주제가 발견되었다. 연구결과를 근거로 마약중독자의 사회적 관계 단절에서 오는 외 로움, 신념과 가치관, 정신적 고통의 의미와 성장, 사회적 인식개 선에 대해 논의한 후 마약중독자 치유와 회복을 위한 상담 및 회 복프로그램 개발을 위한 방향을 제안했다.
