Following craze of the new Korean wave represented by K-POP artists such as ‘BTS’, ‘Blackpink’ and K-Dramas such as ‘Kingdom’ and ‘Squid Game’, the fashion in K-Dramas and Youtube videos in which many K-POP artists appear is in the global spotlight. At a time when experience and consumption of various Korean cultures have increased in the new media environment, in particular, this study attempted to develop Korean design that can be expressed through K-pop artists’ performance costumes. To this end, we wanted to modernize traditional crafts, Najeon and Hanji, develop techniques to apply them to clothing, and design new Hanbok costumes using them. There are limitations in washing and durability to apply real Najeon and Hanji to everyday wear due to the nature of the performance costumes consumed one-time. However, it was possible to express more colorful and freer designs using traditional crafts. As a result of research, craft techniques using Najeon were developed as Najeon lacquerware using plate and powdered pearl, beading using pearl beads, digital textile printing of pearl photography, and embroidery techniques reminiscent of Najeon. The craft techniques using Hanji include techniques to make a decoration of Hanji corsage, a stitch using Hanji yarn, and an applique which printed folk printing on Hanji. In addition to the craft techniques developed, 1 dress, 3 tops, 3 bottoms, and 3 decorations were designed by using the design elements of traditional Hanbok, and we made 1 dress, 1 tops, 2 bottoms, and 2 decorations on behalf of them. This study presented the development case of traditional craft techniques as a creative design element of new Hanbok performance costumes, which is expected to be basic resources that can contribute to the revitalization of the domestic and foreign new Hanbok market and promotion of traditional Korean culture.

‘방탄소년단’, ‘블랙핑크’ 등의 케이팝 아티스트, 넷플릭스의 ‘킹덤’과 ‘오징어 게임’ 등의 케이드라마로 대 표되는 신한류의 열풍에 따라, 케이팝 아티스트가 출연하는 예능, 유튜브 영상, 케이드라마를 통해 등장하는 패션도 전 세계적으로 주목을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 뉴 미디어 환경에서 다양한 한류 문화에 대한 경험과 소비가 증가하는 시점에서, 특별히 케이팝 아티스트들의 공연의상을 통해 표현될 수 있는 한국적 디자인 개 발을 시도하였다. 이를 위하여 전통 공예인 나전과 한지 공예를 현대화하여 의복에 적용시키는 방식을 개발 하고 이를 활용한 신한복 공연의상을 디자인하였다. 공예 재료와 기법의 특성상 실물 나전과 한지를 일상복 에 적용시키기에는 세탁과 내구성 등에 한계가 있지만, 일회성으로 소모되는 공연의상에는 전통 공예를 활용 하여 좀 더 화려하고 자유로운 디자인 표현이 가능하였다. 연구 결과로서, 나전을 활용한 공예 기법은 판 자개와 가루 자개를 활용한 나전칠기, 자개 비즈를 활용한 비딩, 자개 사진의 디지털 텍스타일 프린트, 나전 칠기를 연상하는 자수 기법으로 개발되었다. 한지를 이용한 공예 기법은 한지 코사주 장식, 한지사를 활용한 스티치, 한지에 민화를 프린트한 아플리케 등의 기법으로 개발되었다. 또한, 개발한 공예 기법을 효과적으로 표현하고 의상에 적용하기 위하여 전통 한복의 디자인 요소를 활용하여 드레스 1벌, 상의 3벌, 하의 3벌, 장식 3개를 디자인하였고, 그 중 드레스 1벌, 상의 1벌, 하의 2벌, 장식 2개를 대표로 제작하였다. 본 연구는 신한복 공연의상의 창의적 디자인 요소로서 전통 공예 기법의 개발 사례를 제시하였으며, 이는 국내외 신한복 시장 의 활성화와 한국의 전통 문화 홍보에 기여할 수 있는 기초 자료가 되리라 기대한다.
