Kim Seong-dong is a writer who tried to identify his identity by summoning forgotten beings in modern Korean history. Therefore, the process of composition he shows is not different from that of confirming the existence of the writer himself. The writer, who had to be denied his existence in a sharp ideological confrontation, evokes the Korean values, which are overlooked by modern people through the restoration of the forgotten history of the people. For the writer, who wanted to explore the present through forgotten things, it is only natural to restore and utilize the Korean language. Even if the lives of entertainers seem pathetic, the original truth they pursue through life becomes a major factor in defining the identity of life. Through a fictional space that reproduces daily life, he seeks to reconstruct the traditional values, which modern people have forgotten. The search for the regional identity of the Naepo region would not have been different from the process of seeking a new identity for the writer with origins in the Naepo region. For the writer, who experienced disconnection through the Korean War, identifying one’s own identity would have been his task to establish his own identity as well as a search for his own roots. The pursuit of life, which was not reached even in the difficult process of the Buddhist structure, can be estimated by restoring the language and the lives of the Naepo people. Restoring the language forgotten by modern people and confirming the identity and legitimacy of the region through restoration of the overlooked would be another process of the writer’s composition to confirm the direction that defines the current life.

김성동은 한국 현대사에서 잊혀진 존재들을 소환함으로 자신의 정체성을 규 명하고자 한 작가이다. 그렇기에 그가 보여주는 구도의 과정은 작가 스스로의 존재를 확인하는 과정과 다르지 않다. 첨예한 이념적 대립에서 자신의 존재를 부정당해야 했던 작가는 망각된 민중사의 복원을 통해, 현대인이 간과하는 한국 적 가치들에 대해 환기하고 있다. 잊혀진 것들을 통해 현재를 탐색하고자 했던 작가에게 우리말을 복원하고, 이를 활용하는 것은 당연한 일이다. 예인들의 삶 이 비록 비루해 보여도, 그들이 삶을 통해 추구하는 본연의 진리는 삶의 정체성을 규정하는 주요한 요소가 된다. 일상적 삶을 재현하는 허구적 공간을 통해 현 대인이 망각한 전통적 가치들에 대해 재구를 모색하고 있다. 내포 지역의 지역적 정체성에 대한 탐색은 내포 지역에 연원을 둔 작가의 정 체성을 새롭게 모색하는 과정과 다르지 않았을 것이다. 한국전쟁을 통해 단절을 경험한 작가에게 자신의 정체성을 규명하는 것은 자신의 뿌리에 대한 탐색이자 자신의 정체성을 확립하고자 하는 작가의 과제였을 것이다. 불교적 구도의 지난 한 과정에서도 도달하지 못한 삶에 대한 천착은 언어를 복원하고, 내포 민중의 삶을 복원함으로 그 가능성을 가늠해 볼 수 있다. 현대인에게 망각된 언어를 복 원하고, 간과된 것의 복원을 통해 지역의 정체성과 정통성을 확인하는 것은 현 재의 삶의 규정하는 방향성을 확인하는 작가의 또 다른 구도의 과정일 것이다.
