A Study on the Success Factors of Development of Product-Service System : Focusing on Dash-cam and Electronic Shelf Labels
초록
영어
Today, as customer demands are diversified and convergent attempts are actively made between industrial areas, new perspectives and approaches to product development methodologies are required. Reflecting this trend of the times, this study designed a framework for case analysis using the PSS development methodology, which is drawing attention as a new method of product development. The research target is a South Korean general electronic component manufacturer that develops and produces key materials and components in the mobile, display, optics, semiconductors, automobiles, and IoT sectors. In recent years, the company developed and commercialized Dash-cam using optical technology, one of its core technology capabilities, and developed and commercialized ESL systems for retail stores using wireless communication and IoT sensor technology. As a result, Dasch-cam failed in business, and ESL can be evaluated as successful. The reason for Dash-cam's failure is due to insufficient consideration of the service system to be added to the product, and the reason for ESL's success is because the project was defined based on the PSS attributes of the product and the process and support organization was operated accordingly. This study is of academic significance in that it presents a development framework from a PSS perspective, and it is of practical significance in that it discovered success and failure factors of PSS development through case studies.
