This study is aimed to demonstrate the application of ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) in local resident training. ESD has been proved in various areas for its necessity and importance over years including tourism, whilst its application was scarcely discussed. The research conducted self-administered questionnaire for 146 residents of Korean 4 Cittaslow(Slow City) member cities during training program. International Cittaslow movement, especially focusing SLOW theme, has been known for alternative approach to regional as well as tourism development. Sample’s demographics revealed that ESD should be normatively applied training program and Cittaslow’s principles are closely related to those of ESD. The t-analysis was conducted and found that significant differences in satisfaction and importance of the ESD’s sub-area and regions, respectively. IPA analysis was also performed to find the priority in implementing ESD’s sub areas and found sub areas belong to Concentrate Here and Keep up the Good Work. The significances and limitation of research were included.

본 연구는 지역 주민교육에서 ESD(지속가능발전교육)의 적용 가능성을 실증하는데 목적이 있다. ESD는 관 광산업을 포함하여 다양한 분야에서 필요성과 중요성이 증명되었음에도 불구하고 그 적용방법에 관해서는 논 의가 이루어지지 못했다. 이를 위해서 국내 4개 국제슬로시티 회원도시에서 진행된 주민교육훈련 참가자 총 146명을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 국제 슬로시티운동은 지속가능한 지역개발과 더 나아가 지속가능 한 관광개발을 위한 대안적 접근으로서 느림을 주제로 한다. 표본의 인구통계학적 분석결과 ESD가 규범적으 로 교육훈련과정에 적용되어야 하고 슬로시티 개발원칙이 ESD와 매우 밀접한 관련을 맺고 있다는 것을 발견 하였다. 교육훈련 집단(지역별)과 ESD의 세부주제는 t-테스트를 한 결과 중요도와 만족도 차원에서 유의한 차 이가 있었다. 슬로시티 교육훈련을 기획하고 실행함에 있어서 ESD의 세부주제에 대한 우선순위를 발견하고자 하였으며 IPA 분석을 하였으며 역량집중 및 현상유지 필요 주제를 도출하였다. 연구의 말미에는 시사점 및 한 계점을 포함하였다.
