Today, as the field of counseling has been expanding to the society at large, the demand for the qualitative improvement of counseling services has been also increasing. The key to the qualitative improvement of counseling services can be said to be the practice of effective counseling and efficient management of counseling services. Therefore, the duty and role of counselors at counseling scenes have been recently considered as major factors that affect counseling outcomes. Therefore, paying attention to the emotional intelligence of counselors among counselor factors, this study was intended to verify the structural relationships among the emotional intelligence as such, empathic understanding, working alliance, and counseling outcomes. As a result of the study, first, in the relationship between emotional intelligence and empathic understanding, all of the understanding of self-emotions, the understanding of other's emotions, emotional control, and the utilization of emotions as emotional intelligence were shown to have positive effects on empathic understanding. Second, in the relationship between emotional intelligence and working alliance, the understanding of other's emotions and the utilization of emotions was found to have positive effects on working alliance. Third, in the relationship between empathic understanding and working alliance, empathic understanding was found to have positive effects on working alliance. Fourth, in the relationship between empathic understanding and counseling outcomes, empathic understanding was found to have positive effects on counseling outcomes. Fifth, in the relationship between working alliance and counseling outcomes, working alliance was shown to have positive effects on counseling outcomes. Finally, differences in perception according to counseling experiences were verified and the results indicated that there are significant differences in perceptions in the paths between the understanding of self-emotions and empathic understanding, between emotional control and empathic understanding, and between the understanding of self-emotions and working alliance. This study can be said to be meaningful in that it verified the structural relationships between the emotional intelligence perceived by counselors in the counseling service environment and empathic understanding of clients, working alliance with clients, and counseling outcomes and the effects of counseling experiences to provide basic data that can be used for qualitative improvement of counseling services at the field of counseling.

오늘날 상담의 영역이 사회 전반으로 확대되면서 상담 서비스의 질적 향상에 요구 또한 증대되고 있다. 상담 서비스의 질적 향상의 핵심은 효 과적인 상담의 실행과 상담 서비스에 대한 효율적 관리라고 할 수 있으며, 따라서 최근 들어 상담 장면에서 상담자의 책무와 역할이 상담 성과에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인으로 고려되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 상담자 요인 중 상담자의 정서지능에 관심을 가지고, 이러한 정서지능과 공 감적 이해, 작업동맹 및 상담 성과 간의 구조적 관계를 검증해 보고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 정서지능과 공감적 이해 간의 관계에서 정서지능으로서 자기정서 이해, 타인정서 이해, 정서조절, 정서활용은 공감적 이해에 모두 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째. 정서지능은 작업동맹과 간의 관계에서 타인정서 이해와 정서활용은 작업동맹에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 공감적 이해와 작업동맹 간의 관계에서 공감적 이해는 작업동맹에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타 났다. 넷째, 공감적 이해와 상담 성과 간의 관계에서 공감적 이해는 상담 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 작업동맹과 상담 성과 간의 관계에서 작업동맹은 상담 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 상담경력에 따른 인식의 차이를 검증 한 결과, 자기정서 이해와 공감적 이해, 정서조절과 공감적 이해, 자기정서 이해와 작업동맹 간의 경로에서 유의미한 인식 차이가 있는 것으로 나 타났다. 본 연구는 상담 서비스 환경에서 상담자가 지각하는 정서지능이 내담자에 대한 공감적 이해, 내담자와의 작업동맹 및 상담성과 간의 구조적 관계와 상담경력의 영향을 검증함으로써, 상담 현장에서 상담 서비스의 질적 향상을 위해 활용될 수 있는 기초적인 자료를 제공하였다는 점을 본 연구의 의의라 할 수 있다.
