Christianity is, in essence, practical. The people of God are not those who have a conceptual, objective, and correct knowledge of God but those who exalt God with all their hearts and express their love for God. Worship is the occasion where Christians identify themselves as those who love God. What is first revealed through worship is the act of human beings who love God. However, to have knowledge of God whom we love should not be ignored. How can the proper knowledge of God encourage and enhance the human practice rather than alienate or render it worthless? This paper argues that the theatre, the performative art of drama, can understand the identity of both God and human beings who worship God. The power of theatre is not to hide or disguise the natural identity of an individual for some efficacy but rather to bring out the true identity of human beings. Theologically, the revelation of God appears in the form of a role in the drama that invites human beings to participate in God's being. Christians act together as God's fellow actors in the drama of salvation. God has appeared to us as a character in the play, and God calls us actors to grow in acting with God, looking at our lives from God's point of view. In that sense, Christian worship is the performative confession that God, self, and other human beings are meeting together as actors.

기독교 신앙은 본질적으로 실천적이다. 하나님의 백성은 하나님에 대한 관념적이 고 객관적이고 바른 지식을 갖는 자들이 아니라, 마음을 다해 하나님을 높이고 하나 님을 향한 자신들의 사랑을 표현하는 자들이다. 그리스도인이 하나님을 사랑하는 자 로 자신의 정체성을 확인하는 장이 바로 예배다. 예배를 통해 일차적으로 드러나는 것은 하나님을 사랑하는 인간의 행위다. 하지만 그 사랑의 대상인 하나님을 바르게 아는 것이 기독교 신앙에 부여되는 중요한 과제임을 결코 무시할 수 없다. 어떻게 하 면 하나님에 대한 바른 지식이 인간의 실천을 소외시키거나 무가치하게 여기는 것이 아니라 격려하고 고양할 수 있을까? 본 논문은 연극이라는 예술 형태가 하나님의 정체성과 하나님을 예배하는 인간의 모습을 함께 이해할 수 있다고 주장한다. 연극의 힘은 어떤 효능을 위해 개인의 자연 스러운 정체성을 숨기고 바꾸는 것이 아니라, 오히려 인간의 참된 정체성을 끄집어내 는 것이다. 신학적으로도 하나님의 계시는 드라마 속 배역의 형태로 나타나는데, 하나 님의 계시로 인해 인간은 하나님의 존재 즉 아름다움에 참여하도록 초대받는다. 하나 님의 구원의 드라마에서 하나님의 동료 배우가 되어 함께 연기하는 자들이 바로 그리스도인들이다. 하나님은 연극의 캐릭터로 우리에게 나타나셨고 우리를 배우로 부르셔 서 우리 삶을 하나님의 관점으로 바라보며 하나님과 함께 연기하는 가운데 성장하게 하신다. 그런 면에서 그리스도인이 예배에 참여하는 것은 하나님과 우리가 함께 연기 자로 만나고 있음을 고백하는 행위가 된다.
