This study attempted to reveal the concept and content of philanthropy, as a methodology from a practical point of view for the Principle of Mutual Existence. 󰡔Unification Thought󰡕 presents the Principle of Mutual Existence as the economic ideology of an ideal world. In order for the ideal economic ideology to be realized in reality, it is necessary to understand and combine multiple understandings of economic and social values. Social value refers to community values such as autonomy, participation, solidarity and cooperation pursued by civil society as the third sector required along with the roles of the state and the market. In order for community values to be established and spread, voluntary actions for the public good of civil society that can practice the contents of those values are necessary. Through the process of war and the birth of a nation, philanthropy is analyzed as a representative voluntary action led by civil society along with the government and the market. Philanthropy is thus interpreted from the perspective of the Principle of Mutual Existence to be presentable as a methodology for constructing an ideal world economic system.

본 연구는 공생주의의 구현을 위한 실용적 관점에서 하나의 방법론으로 필란트 로피의 개념과 내용을 밝히는 것이다. 『통일사상요강』은 공생주의를 이상세계의 경 제이념으로 설명하고 있다. 그 이상적 경제이념이 현실 속에서 구현되기 위해서는 경제와 함께 사회적인 가치에 대한 다중적인 이해와 그 결합이 필요하다. 사회적 가치는 국가와 시장의 역할과 더불어 요구되는 제3 섹터로서의 시민사회가 추구하는 자율, 참여, 연대와 협동 등과 같은 공동체적 가치를 의미한다. 공동체적 가치가 정 착되고 확산되기 위해서는 그 가치의 내용을 실천할 수 있는 시민사회의 공익을 위 한 자발적인 행동이 필요하다. 전쟁과 국가 탄생의 과정을 거치면서 정부와 시장과 더불어 시민사회가 주도했던 대표적인 자발적 행동으로 필란트로피를 분석하고 공 생주의적 관점에서 해석함으로써 이상세계 경제체제를 구성하는 하나의 방법론으로 제시하고자 한다.
