The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences and meaning of life experienced by full-time housewives raising school-age children in the period before and after the outbreak of COVID-19 through an art-based narrative inquiry method. The art-based narrative inquiry method is an inquiry method that uses artistic process and expression as a medium when researchers and research participants have in-depth interviews focusing on specific experiences. Art-based narrative has the advantage of reproducing the memory of experience and helping verbal expression through non-verbal expression. In this study, art-based in-depth interviews were conducted with five full-time housewives raising school-age children, and in-depth interviews were conducted from March 2021 to April 2021, and field texts were collected for a total of three sessions, 120 to 180 minutes per week. Based on the collected data, the meaning of the participants' lives was derived as 'Stop-Myself Found at Home', 'Looking Back-Living as Me Again', and 'Thinking about Restart-Relationship'. This meaning was explored as 're-confirming my existence, not my mother, in a personal context through the COVID-19 period, and as a 'newly discovered family' in a relational context. The art-based narrative exploration method provided an opportunity to re-examine the life experienced personally and reinterpret the experience to full-time housewives raising school-age children. In the future, it can be used as basic data to study the life of full-time housewives raising school-age children who experience special periods such as COVID-19.

본 연구는 학령기 자녀를 양육하는 전업주부가 코로나19 발생 전후의 시기에 겪고 있는 경험과 삶의 의미를 예술기반 내러티브 탐구방법을 통해 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 예술기반 내러티브 탐구방법은 연구자와 연구 참여자가 특정 경험을 중심으로 심층면담을 할 때 예술적 과정과 표현을 매체로 사용하는 탐구방법이다. 예술기반 내러티브는 경험의 기억을 재생산하고 비언어적 표현으로 언어표현을 돕는 장점이 있다. 본 연구 에서는 학령기 자녀를 양육하고 있는 5명의 전업주부를 대상으로 2021년 3월부터 4월까지 각각 주 1회 120분∼180분씩 총 3회기에 걸쳐 미술을 기반으로 한 심층면담을 진행하며 현장텍스트를 수집하였다. 수집 된 자료를 바탕으로 발견한 참여자의 삶의 의미는 ‘멈춤-집에서 발견하는 나의 모습’, ‘돌아봄-다시 나로 살기’, ‘다시시작-관계에 대한 생각’ 등으로 도출되었다. 이러한 의미는 코로나19 시기를 통해 개인적 맥락에 서 ‘엄마가 아닌 나의 존재를 다시 확인하기’로 탐구하였으며, 관계적 맥락으로는 ‘새롭게 발견되는 가족’으 로 탐구하였다. 예술기반 내러티브 탐구방법을 통해 학령기 자녀를 양육하는 전업주부에게 개인적으로 경험 된 삶을 재조명하며, 경험을 재해석 할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다는 점에 의의가 있다. 또한, 코로나19와 같은 특수한 시기를 경험하게 되는 학령기 자녀를 양육하는 전업주부의 삶을 연구하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
