This study proposes moral imagination as an aspect that artificial intelligence cannot replace teachers from the standpoint of the coexistence of teachers and artificial intelligence for effective moral education practice. To this end, we first clarify the meaning and function of moral imagination and examine its operating mechanism through the theories of D. Hume and I. Kant. Artificial intelligence technology can be effective in delivering subject knowledge to students because it has excellent analysis capabilities based on big data. However, without moral imagination, artificial intelligence cannot synthesize individual lives. Moral education can be successful when it is practiced in practical and concrete life contexts. In order to develop students' moral imagination, the teacher should lead them to experience various and continuous forms of interaction among students.

본 연구는 효과적인 도덕교육 실천을 위해 교사와 인공지능의 공존 이라는 관점에서 인공지능이 교사를 대체할 수 없는 측면으로 도덕적 상상력을 제안한다. 이를 위해 도덕적 상상력의 의미와 기능을 밝히고 그것의 작용 메커니즘을 흄(D. Hume)과 칸트(I. Kant)의 이론을 통해 서 살펴본다. 인공지능 기술은 빅데이터에 기반하여 뛰어난 분석 능력 을 갖추고 있어서 학생에게 교과 지식을 전달하는데 효과적일 수 있 다. 그러나 도덕적 상상력이 없는 인공지능은 개개인의 삶을 온전히 종합해낼 수 없다. 도덕교육은 실제적이며 구체적인 삶의 맥락 속에서 실천될 때 성공할 수 있다. 도덕 교사는 학생들의 도덕적 상상력을 길 러주기 위해서 학생들 간에 다양하면서도 지속적인 형태의 상호작용을 경험하도록 이끌어야 한다.
