The International Association for Mission Studies’(IAMS) 15th assembly was held in Sydney, Australia from July 7-11, 2022. The theme of this conference was “Power, Inequalities, and Vulnerabilities: Mission in a Wounded World.” The conference, which was delayed two years due to the global Covid pandemic, hosted a total of 194 presentations and led within nine small groups. The conference also hosted eleven thematic panels for the first time. The conference was hosted in a hyflex format, accommodating scholars joining in-person and online. The 15th Assembly showcased an active involvement of the scholars from the majority world, which can be compared by the previous assemblies that often led by western scholars. Finishing 6 years of her service as the vice-president, the author was appointed as the new president and Bright Myeong-Seok Lee as the general secretary. A total of 25 Korean scholars presented at the conference, which was the most number of Korean scholars in the history of IAMS. These are signs of entering a new era which shows the Korean church needs to serve more for the academic contribution in the missiology scholarship in the world.

제15회 세계선교학회(IAMS) 대회가 2022년 7월 7-11일에 호주의 시드니에서 개최되었다. 이번 대회의 주제는 “권력, 불평등, 취약성: 상처 입 은 세상 안에서의 선교”이다. 이번 대회는 코로나 팬데믹의 전 지구적 확산 으로 인해 2020년에 열리기로 되어있었던 대회를 2년 연기하여 열리게 되 었다. 6년 만에 열리는 이번 대회에는 194개의 논문이 발표되었는데, 기존의 9개의 소그룹 모임 이외에 추가로 11개의 주제별 패널모임이 운영되어 다양한 주제의 연구발표가 이루어졌다. 이번 대회는 코로나 팬데믹의 여파 로 온라인과 오프라인이 병행해서 진행되는 하이플렉스(Hyflex) 방식으로 대회가 진행되었다. 이번 대회는 특히 아시아와 아프리카를 대표로 하는 다수 세계 학자들 의 활약이 두드러지는 대회였다. 특히 필자는 지난 6년간의 부회장직을 마무리하고 회장으로 취임하였고, 또 다른 한국인으로 이명석 박사가 총무로 선임되고, 특히 25명의 한국인 학자들이 논문을 발표함으로써 세계선교학 회 역사상 유례없는 활발한 참여가 이루어졌다. 이러한 변화에 맞추어 한국교회는 세계선교학계의 시대적 요청인 다수 세계 학자들의 학문적 기여 에 주도적 역할을 요청받고 있으며, 이러한 한국교회의 과제에 응답해야 한다.
