The purpose of this study is to explore the educational image of physical education from the perspective of 'the Endogenous Theory of Education', and to examine and view the meaning and identity of primary physical education based on this. According to the 'the Endogenous Theory of Education',, education is viewed as an aspect of life and must be distinguished from ‘schooling’, which is a category of life. In addition, individuals experience life in various ways, which can be divided into ‘mundane’, ‘transcendental’, and ‘educational’ worlds. In particular, education is closely related to the transcendental worlds, where the purpose of the transcendental worlds, is to pursue the intrinsic goods, whereas education is the process of pursuing the intrinsic goods. Education has its own value, which must be distinguished from the value pursued by the transcendental worlds. Education consists of cooperative education between ascending education to raise one's own transtalent and descending education to help students raise their transtalent. From the perspective of 'the Endogenous Theory of Education', the researcher named the transcendental worlds based on ‘human movement’ as ‘the Physical Eeducation Worlds’, and argued that physical education can be viewed as an educational activity in ‘the Physical Eeducation Worlds’. Physical education has a play value that can be enjoyed from the activity itself. From the point of view of educational worlds, ‘the Physical Eeducation Worlds’ should be limited to materials that can realize human greatness and potential, and experience superior reality. The researcher argues that it is necessary to critically review the method of conceptualizing elementary physical education as children's physical education, and argues that elementary physical education can be conceptualized as elementary physical education from the introductory level of ‘the Physical Eeducation Worlds’ to elementary levels of ‘the Physical Eeducation Worlds’ from the point of view of 'the Endogenous Theory of Education'.

본 연구의 목적은 ‘교육본위론’ 관점에서 체육의 교육적 이미지를 탐색하고, 이를 바탕으로 초등 체육의 의미와 정체 성을 검토하고 조망하는 것이다. ‘교육본위론’에 따르면, 교육은 삶의 한 양상으로 보며 삶의 범주인 학교태와 구별해 야 한다. 아울러 개인은 삶을 다양한 양상으로 경험하게 되는데, 이는 대표적으로 세속계, 수도계, 교육계로 구분 가능하다. 특히, 교육은 수도계와 밀접한 관련이 있는데 수도계가 내재적 선을 추구하는 활동이라면 교육은 내재적 선을 추구하는 과정 자체라고 볼 수 있다. 이때 교육은 그 자체로서 가치를 가지며, 이는 수도계가 추구하는 가치와는 구별 해야 한다. 교육은 자신의 품위 수준을 높이려는 상구교육과 제자의 품위 상승 활동을 돕는 하화교육의 협동교육으로 이루어지며, 내재율이 지켜질 때 온전한 교육의 모습으로 나타나게 된다. 교육본위론 관점에서 인간움직임을 소재로 하는 수도계를 체육계로 명명하며, 체육은 체육계에서 이루어지는 교육활동으로 볼 수 있다고 주장하였다. 이때 체육 은 활동 그 자체에서 즐거움을 얻을 수 있는 놀이적 가치를 가진다. 교육계 관점에서 유효한 체육계는 인간의 위대성 과 잠재된 능력을 실현하고, 더 우월한 실재를 체험할 수 있는 소재로 한정되어야 한다. 한편, 연구자는 초등 체육을 아동 체육으로 개념화하는 방식에 대한 비판적 검토가 필요하다고 주장하며, 교육본위론 관점에서 초등체육은 체육계 의 입문부터 비교적 낮은 품위 수준에서 이루어지는 교육활동을 초등체육으로 개념화할 수 있다고 주장하였다.
