The hidden premise is a premise that makes an incomplete argument a complete argument, or a proposition that supports the conclusion, but is omitted. A common way to find hidden premises is to appeal to the principle of charity and deductivism. First of all, the principle of charity is the principle of interpreting the argument in the direction of maximizing the rationality of the person who presented the argument and supplementing the hidden premise accordingly. However, since this principle is not specific, it is difficult to apply it immediately to find the hidden premise. So, along with the principle of charity, the deductively hidden premise is supplemented. Therefore, in this paper, the principle of charity as a specific method to supplement the hidden premise is divided into three. According to it, the principle of charity is subdivided into the principle of charity in a narrow sense, the principle of respect for context, and the principle of jigsaw puzzle. Nevertheless, if all the arguments presented are regarded as deductive arguments, it is sometimes difficult to properly supplement the hidden premise. This is because there are hidden premises that necessarily support the conclusion, as well as hidden premises that probably support the conclusion. Therefore, since arguments consist of propositions and propositions consist of concepts, it is suggested that considering the structure of concepts plays an important role in finding hidden premises.

숨은 전제는 불완전한 논증을 완전한 논증으로 만들어 주는 전제, 또는 결론을 지지하는 것이지만 누락된 명제이다. 숨은 전제를 찾는 일반적인 방법은 자비의 원리와 연역주의에 호소하는 것이다. 우선, 자비의 원리란 논증을 제시한 사람의 합리성을 극대화하는 방향으 로 논증을 해석하고 그에 따라 숨은 전제를 보충하는 원리이다. 그런데 이 원리는 구체적이 지 않기 때문에 숨은 전제를 찾는데 바로 적용되기 어렵다. 그래서 자비의 원리와 더불어 연역주의적으로 숨은 전제가 보충된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 숨은 전제를 보충하는 구체적인 방법으로서의 자비의 원리를 세 가지로 구분한다. 그에 따르면, 자비의 원리는 좁은 의미의 자비의 원리, 맥락 존중의 원리, 직소퍼즐의 원리로 세분화된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 주어진 논증을 모두 연역논증으로 간주하면 숨은 전제를 제대로 보충하기 어려운 경우가 발생한다. 숨은 전제들에는 결론을 필연적으로 뒷받침하는 전제뿐만 아니라 결론을 개연적으로 뒷받 침하는 전제도 있기 때문이다. 이에 논증은 명제로 이루어져 있고, 명제는 개념으로 구성되 어 있기 때문에, 개념의 구조를 고려하는 것이 숨은 전제를 찾는데 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 제안한다.
