This study examines what positive values can be created when nudge design is applied to urban regeneration and seeks effective directions for activation. Nudge is beneficial for urban regeneration projects because it can bring voluntary citizen participation without coercion in line with public policy. If we look at the history of cities, it becomes clear that urban structure and planning influence the way cities operate and human behavior. Nudge design embraces nature and humans, and in overcoming and solving the problems of a modern city, it can play a role in making it a natural attitude in people's lifestyles, not by regulation or coercion. In this study, the user and the surrounding environment and their differences were investigated, and the corresponding activation plan was sought. In this study, the concept of nudge, the type of nudge design, and the concept and characteristics of urban regeneration were investigated through prior research. In addition, from the perspective of urban regeneration, after looking at the nudge stairs as a concrete example of nudge design, based on a questionnaire survey, we tried to understand the effect of urban regeneration through effective application and activation of nudge.

본 연구는‘넛지(Nudge)디자인’이 도시재생을 위 해 적용될 때 어떠한 긍정적 가치를 창출할 수 있는 지를 살펴보고 넛지디자인이 활용되는 경향과 추진 과정에서 효과적인 활성화 방향의 쟁점을 알아보는 연구이다. 넛지(Nudge)는 공공정책과 맞물려 강요 없이 자율적인 시민 참여를 가져올 수 있기에, 도시 재생사업에 유익하다. 하지만 똑같은 넛지디자인이라 도 장소나 주변의 상황, 사용자 특성에 따라서 성과 가 달라질 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 넛지가 적용된 건강계단을 중심으로 지역에 따른 특성에 따라 재미 유형별 적용 타당성과 효과적 적용과 운영을 위한 활 성화 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이 연구를 위해서 선행연구를 통해서 넛지의 개념과 넛지디자인의 유형 및 도시재생의 특성을 알아본 후, 설문조사를 통해 도시의 일상에서 누구나 사용하는 계단을 대상으로 넛지디자인의 재미유형과 장소에 따른 사용자 의식 차이를 알아보았다. 연구의 결과, 도시재생에 있어서 넛지의 활성화를 위해서는 사용자의 연령과 지역의 특성에 따라서 넛지유형이 적용되어야 하며, 이를 통 해 사회적 측면, 경제적 측면, 환경·물리적 측면, 문 화적 측면에서 도시재생 효과를 발휘할 수 있다. 이 연구를 통해 향후 도시재생의 목적과 기능활성화를 위하여 넛지디자인의 재미 유형별 적용과 지속적 활 성화를 위한 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.
