This thesis examines the structural characteristics, including the language and content, of the Analects from the perspective of “narrative.” Considering the classics from the viewpoint of modern theory may feel alienated. However, consider the fact that the subject of life, whether in the past or the present, is still a person, and all the truths involved in that person exist through time. It does not seem like something to be afraid of. Relatedly, I think that the selection of the topic of this study will have its own meaning, although it is insignificant. In this main body, we divide the content into three main themes: the minimalistic narrative of language, the narrative of the character “describing (刻畫),” and the narrative of the philosophy of life. The detailed study focused on the “one-character criticism (一字 評)” narratives, conversation narratives, Confucius and his disciples, gentlemen (君子) and snob (小人) narratives, and the mechanism of studies (治學) narratives and interpersonal relationships narratives named “life (處世)” were analyzed.

본 논문은 ‘내러티브’ 관점에서 『논어(論語)』의 언어와 내용을 포함한 구조적 특성들을 살펴보았다. 현대 이론의 관점으로 고전(古典)을 바라보는 것은 자칫 괴리 감이 느껴질 수도 있지만, 한편으로 과거이든 현재이든 삶을 살아가는 주체는 여 전히 사람이고 그 사람이 관여하는 모든 진리는 세월을 관통하여 존재한다는 사실 을 고려할 때 그렇게 두려워 할 일도 아닌 듯하다. 그런 점에서 본 연구의 주제 선 택은 미미하나마 나름대로의 의미를 찾을 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. 본론에서는 언어의 미니멀리즘 내러티브, 인물 ‘각화(刻畫)’ 내러티브, 생활 철학 내러티브 이 렇게 세 가지 대주제로 나누고, 세부 연구에서는 주로 ‘일자평(一字評)’ 어록체 내 러티브, 구술(口述) 내러티브, 공자와 그 제자들 및 군자(君子)와 소인(小人) 내러 티브 그리고 치학(治學) 내러티브의 메커니즘과 처세(處世)로 명명된 인간관계 내 러티브 등에 대하여 분석하였다.
