This study aims to understand better the psychosocial experiences of female marriage immigrants raising school-age children by identifying the components of their adaptation experience and revealing the structure of the identified elements. To this end, data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten multicultural mothers who have been in Korea for more than ten years and raised school-aged children and analyzed using the ground theory approach suggested by Strauss & Corbin. As a result, 71 concepts, 26 subcategories, and ten categories were extracted related to the psychosocial adaptation experiences of female marriage immigrants with school-age children. The core category of their experience identified by the structuring of extracted categories was raising children having confidence after overcoming their limitations. Based on these findings, implications, limitations of this study, and suggestions for future research were discussed.

본 연구는 학령기 및 청소년기 자녀를 둔 결혼이주여성들의 한국 사회 적응경험에 대한 질적 연구로서 그들이 경험한 한국 정착과 결혼 및 학부모가 되어가는 심리사회 적 경험을 탐색하고자 한다. 또한, 이들의 학부모로서의 과제를 극복하는 과정을 기초 로 유사사례에 적용할 수 있는 다문화 자녀 양육에 대한 제안을 모색하고자 한다. 본연 구를 위해 한국에 이주한 지 10년 이상 되고, 초ž중ž고등학교에 재학 중인 자녀를 둔 다 문화 어머니 10명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시한 후 Strauss & Corbin이 제시한 근거 이론 연구 방법을 활용하여 그들의 경험의 구성과 구조를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 학령기 및 청소년기 자녀를 둔 결혼이주여성들의 심리사회적 적응 경험과 관련하여 71개의 개념, 26개의 하위범주, 10개의 범주가 도출되었으며, 패러다임 모형 으로 범주 간의 관계를 통해 드러난 핵심 범주는 ‘한계를 극복하고 자부심이 있는 학령 기 및 청소년기 자녀로 양육하기’로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 낯선 한국문화에서 학 령기 및 청소년기 자녀를 둔 결혼이주여성들이 학부모로서의 과제를 감당할 때 필요한 심리적 유능성에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 도출함으로써 향후 다문화가정과 관련된 정 책개발과 이들을 위한 전문적 개입에 유용한 자료로 활용될 것으로 여겨진다.
